The holiday season is quickly approaching and the staff at MCC is excited! There are so many things to
look forward to this time of year; festive decorations, delicious meals (the new menu is great!), and
time with family and friends. Thank you for sharing these beloved traditions with us!
The days are growing shorter and the Pro-Shop will be reducing their hours, but there are still many
great reasons to keep the Club on your schedule. The social committee is always hard at work coming
up with new ideas for events, the annual Thanksgiving Buffet is right around the corner and FAC is the
only place to be on a Friday afternoon! MCC is also ready, willing and able to host your business
meetings, family get-togethers and holiday parties, so remember to contact Chelsea for reservations.
November is a month in which we count our blessings and I count being a part of the MCC staff a
blessing. The Club is full of wonderful people and I hope that you will share with your friends and
colleagues the benefits of belonging to such an outstanding establishment. Happy Thanksgiving
season!
Be Well,
Sarah Boggs

at Kidz Klub from 5-9pm. If you would like your child(ren) to participate in Kidz
Klub (arts, crafts & movies) please call the Office at 785-539-7501 to reserve your
kiddo’s spot.
Due to safety concerns, Kidz Klub is limited to children who are 2-12 years old. In
order to properly staff Kidz Klub, reservations are required. We ask that parents stay
on the premises. Thank you for your cooperation.
*If there are no reservations by 2:00pm on the day of Kidz Klub, it will be cancelled.*
Winter is on its way and we will be gearing up for the winter projects. During this time of year we
have the opportunity to rebuild and service our equipment so it will be ready for the following golf
season. We will also be working on removing dead pine trees throughout the golf course and
cleaning up other key areas. There are still plenty of nice golfing days to take advantage of the
course, but be aware of frost delays in the early mornings.
We would like to thank everyone that participated in the Mark’s Revenge tournament. It was a fun
event and I hope everyone enjoyed our interesting pin placements that day. We hope everyone
has enjoyed this past golfing season and we will be looking forward to getting ready for next
season. As always, if you have any questions or comments please contact us.

A Letter from Our Golf Professional Greetings Manhattan Country Club Members!
It's been a gorgeous fall season thus far and hopefully you've been able to get out and take
advantage of the terrific weather!
With the month of November now upon us we are moving into the "off season" for golf. Beginning
Monday, November 3rd, the Golf Course will be closed on Monday's until April 1st. Our apologies for
any inconvenience that this may cause.
I've decided that periodically I will share a golf rule in my letter as a helpful reminder. BELOW YOU
WILL SEE RULE 26-1 FROM THE USGA rules of golf. Rule 26-1 deals with taking relief from water
hazards. as a reminder, yellow stakes are a "water hazard" and red stakes are a "lateral Water
hazard" :
26-1. Relief For Ball In Water Hazard
It is a question of fact whether a ball that has not been found after having been struck toward a water hazard (YELLOW
STAKES) is in the hazard. In the absence of knowledge or virtual certainty that a ball struck toward a water hazard, but not
found, is in the hazard, the player must proceed under Rule 27-1.
If a ball is found in a water hazard or if it is known or virtually certain that a ball that has not been found is in the water
hazard (whether the ball lies in water or not), the player may under penalty of one stroke:
a. Proceed under the stroke and distance provision of Rule 27-1 by playing a ball as nearly as possible at the spot from
which the original ball was last played (see Rule 20-5); or
b. Drop a ball behind the water hazard, keeping the point at which the original ball last crossed the margin of the water
hazard directly between the hole and the spot on which the ball is dropped, with no limit to how far behind the water
hazard the ball may be dropped; or
c. As additional options available only if the ball last crossed the margin of a lateral water hazard (RED STAKES) , drop a
ball outside the water hazard within two club-lengths of and not nearer the hole than (i) the point where the original ball last
crossed the margin of the water hazard or (ii) a point on the opposite margin of the water hazard equidistant from the hole.
When proceeding under this Rule, the player may lift and clean his ball or substitute a ball.
Thanks for your time and I hope that you all have a great November!
Regards,
Blake Graham

I would like to thank all of you that attended our Special Meeting on Monday, October 6 th. We
received a few emails with suggestions on ways to reduce expenses and increase revenue. We’re
looking at all of the options and a member group has formed to consider how we can refinance
the debt with more favorable terms. As the information develops, we’ll keep you informed and
announce our progress.
We’re approaching the holiday season and looking forward to Thanksgiving Buffet, the Ladies
Shopping Trip, Santa Brunch, and of course, New Year’s Eve Dinner. Please keep an eye out for all
of the information about these events via the Fore & More or Email blast and make your
reservations early.
As always, please let us know how you are enjoying all that we have to offer and any suggestions
you may have on how to improve the overall experience of your club.
Looking forward to seeing you on your next visit to the club,
Dave
