What are we doing?
Migrating 37 colleges, universities, and community colleges to Ex Libris Alma (staff) and Primo Direct (discovery).
Along the way, replacing • Integrated Library Systems• Discovery systems • Electronic Resource Management systems• Link resolvers/knowledgebases• Standalone proxy servers • Local servers … going to the cloud
Why are we doing this?
… because of the past… because of the future
Why? … because of the pastOld systemsBased on limited bandwidth, storage, lack of standardsLagging functionalityHard to
• Innovate• Integrate• Extract data
Total cost of ownership: Maintenance, Servers, Discovery, ERM, open URL resolvers, etc. etc.
Why are we doing this?
Why? … because of the futureBetter services for students, faculty, staffImproved resource sharing … a better SummitImproved staff toolsEnabling
• Collaborative Technical Services• Vision of “one collection”
New vendor optionsAlma, Intota, Sierra, WMS, etc.

Summit through the ages
2012-15 Summit is important all through migration … it is our cross-platform resource sharing system.
2015+ Resource sharing within the Alliance happens via Alma & Primo, but …
What about outside the Alliance?
What about Sister Consortia?
Is this a 2015+ role for Summit?
