A very warm welcome to today’s final from the Northamptonshire County Football Association and in particular the members of the County Cup Committee.
The County Cup Committee has organised 577 games this season to bring us the eventual 2016 competition winners for 17 cup competitions - from Veterans, Saturday, Sunday, Youth and Women/Girls’ football.
We extend our thanks to the host club who have kindly made their facilities available for us to stage our final today.
Congratulations to our finalists who have won a place in today’s game. We look forward to an exciting and competitive game of football. I would also extend my congratulations to the match officials on their success in achieving an appointment to this final.
Please do stay at the conclusion of the game to congratulate both teams and the officials as we award the trophy and individual medals. There will also be an award to one of the supporting team of volunteers from each club in recognition of all the very hard work that takes place at each club throughout the season.
I hope you enjoy a great footballing event today and I thank you for your support and attendance at today’s final. Please do give generously to the Swain Benevolent Fund collection, which is taking place today. The Fund supports players, officials and administrators in times of need and is a very worthwhile cause to support.
Finally, I would wish to extend my sincere thanks to every member of the County Cup Committee and the staff at the Northamptonshire FA office who have worked so hard this season with me to deliver the 2016 County Cup Finals in my first season as Chairman – well done to all.

Croughton Football Club was formed in 2011, but the Diamonds came together about six years ago, starting off as Brackley Town. The Diamonds play in the Central Warwickshire League and are currently second, just behind Wolverhampton Wanderers. The girls come from Northampton, Milton Keynes, Buckingham, Banbury, Brackley and even south-west Wales to play; so a well-travelled team. Unfortunately, four players are under age and cup tied, so cannot play today.

the county to achieve community status.
The Ladies section started in 2010 and the ladies have played in the Northamptonshire County League (NWAGFL) for the last five seasons. In 2014/15, Moulton Ladies won the league and cup double and gained promotion to the East Midlands Women’s Regional Football League (EMWRFL) for the 2015/16 season.
GIRLS’ ADVANCED COACHING CENTRE
The FA Talent Pathway for girls in Northamptonshire changed for the 2015/16 season with the launch of an exciting new opportunity for talented girls across the county to develop through the FA’s Elite England Pathway.
The East region, which includes Northamptonshire, became the second in England to adopt the new Female Talent structure, which consists of five Advanced Coaching Centres (ACC); one in each county across the region, which also includes Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.
Each Advanced Coaching Centre offers talented female players an hour-and-a-half training a week, in addition to their grassroots club training sessions.
Players attending the ACC who show Elite potential may be invited to a new Regional Centre of Excellence, which meets five times a year. It is from here that the most talented players may get the chance to progress into Elite performance camps and England youth training camps.
The ACC is run by the Northamptonshire FA at Brook Weston School, Corby, independently to any club involvement, and will be the official FA Girls Talent Pathway option.
