Introduced in 1985, the NES was

an instant hit. Over the next two

years, it almost changed the whole

video game industry. Selling over 60million units, people brought new

games into their homes for the first

time on the NES.

for a portable system .

The Game Boy cameout in 1989 and was

made around the

same time the classic

game Tetris. Game Boy

is the most successfulvideo game system

ever released. Since it

came out in 1989, it has

sold well over 150

million systemsworldwide. Originally

with the game, Tetris,

this little handheld

became an instant hit.



Super Nintendo

Entertainment System



The Super Nintendo

Entertainment System wasreleased in 1991 andfeatured 16-bit technology.The more power meant more

entertaining games whichhelped the SNES sell morethan 49 million systemsworldwide.



Nintendo 64



The Nintendo 64 cameout in 1996 and it set

new standards in

realistic 3D gaming.

Super Mario 64 was theshowcase game and

thrilled millions with its

amazing graphics and

gameplay.



Game Boy Pocket



The same year the N64 cameout, the Game Boy Pocket

found itself becoming veryfamous. It was smaller than theoriginal Game Boy and came ina variety of colors.



Game Boy Advance



The Game Boy Advance featured a

larger screen and better graphics

than the previous versions of the

Game Boy, the GBA would go on to

sell millions of systems worldwide

after it came out in North Americain 2001.



Nintendo Game Cube



The release of the Nintendo

GameCube also came out in

2001. It had better graphics

and gameplay of the N64. It

was the first Nintendo systemto use discs instead of

cartridges for its games.



Game Boy Advance SP



Released in 2003, the Game BoyAdvance SP had the same sizescreen as the Game BoyAdvance, but it was dramaticallysmaller, lighter, and had a closingscreen to become truly pocketportable. It also featured arechargeable battery and backlitscreen.



Nintendo Ds



Featuring two screens, including a touch screen, a

a microphone, built-in Wi-Fi capability, and backward compatibility, the

DS was a very successful portable gaming device, beating all its rivals in

the gaming industry.



Nintendo Ds Lite



The Nintendo DS Lite is asmaller, lighter, and hasbrighter screens than theprevious DS and has beenembraced by fans. Tens ofmillions of DS Lites have soldworldwide since its release inearly 2006.
