PYRAMULfinewool produc-ers, the Hundy family, havebeen crowned the best inAustralia and New Zealandwith first and third placingsin the oldest wool competi-tion in the world.

Ed and Jill Hundy, “Win-dradeen”, took first place inthe 2016 edition of the Ex-trafineWool Trophywith sonAndrew and his wife Pennytaking third place. Secondplace went to Allan and Car-olyn Phillips, Deddington,Tas.

For the Venus AureumTrophy, David and SusanRowbottom, St Helens Vic,won both first and thirdplace while Bradley Sandlot,Lexton, Vic, was awardedsecond.

Established with theAustralian Superfine WoolGrowers Association (AS-WGA) in 1963, the goal of theannual Zegna Wool Awardsis to weave finesse and tra-dition together to create thefinest of fabrics.

“It is always a pleas-ure to award the effortsand achievements of thewoolgrowers,” ChairmanErmenegildo Zegna Group,Paolo Zegna said. GENETICS from the newlycrowned $60,000 recordbreaking Speckle Park bull,River Hill 50T Crusader025C, will soon be makingtheir way to MinnamurraPastoral Company. They arepartners in the tri-continentsyndicate (the CrusaderSyndicate) who teamed upto purchase the bull at heSummit 3 Sale at Ardrossan,Alberta, Canada.

“There were quite a fewclassy bulls on sale that suit-ed our requirements for con-firmation, length and mus-cling,” Minnamurra’s generalmanager, Dennis Power said.

“But this young bull hadthe breeding to fit right intoour stud program.”

Crusader 025C is by RiverHill Touchdown 50T out ofa first calf heifer who was byRiver Hill Traffic Jam 26T.

Traffic Jam was grandchampion Speckle Park bullat the Canadian National atAgribition, Canada’s largestbeef show.

He’s described by breederBarry Ducherer of River HillFarm, Neiburg, Saskatche-wanas a powerhouse withexceptional growth andmoderate birth weight.
