41st Charter Nite and Rotary Alumni Meet

Our weekly meeting on May 18, 2018 at Pirates of Grill in Elante Mall, Chandigarh was a special one. President Rtn. Dr. Rita Kalra said, “Heartiest congratulations! We are part of the great organisation which turns 41 today.”

We had gracious presence of Assistant Governor (Zone 3) PP Rtn. Rakesh Mittal accompanied by his wife R‟ann Ritu and his son Rohan with his wife Ritu. We were also pleased to have amongst us PDG Yoginder Diwan, PP Rtn. Brigadier D.S. Dhillon of Rotary Chandigarh Shivalik, Inner Wheel Past District Chairperson Neeru Khattar, IW President Meenakshi Singla, with IW members Renu Agarwal, Sween Goel, Daisy Garg, guests Rakesh Singla and Sunita Singla. We also had young Rotaractors of Le-Corbusior Nandan, Kuldip and Mohan. RCC President Narinder Choudhary represented our Rotary Community Corps.

There were 70 participants for the World‟s Greatest Meal (WGM) # 4632 including Rotarians, their spouses, children and friends, who celebrated the Charter Nite in the Hawaiian style to enjoy „a meal where people meet and give money for end polio now‟. In this event US$ 400 was raised for the cause of polio free world. The President thanked Rtn. Kulvinder Singh and Rtn. Kulbir Bhatia for their sincere efforts for success of this event.

PDG Shaju Peter who was away to Cochin, sent an email to President Dr. Rita congratulating her for conceiving this meaningful event, both in terms of TRF contributions and great fellowship.

PDG Shaju Peter at Yamunanagar

PDG Shaju Peter was invited by Rotary Club of Yamunanagar which has emerged as one of the largest clubs of our District with a membership of over 120. Shaju was received by President Raman Gupta, PP Kapil Gupta, PDG Subhash Garg and Praveen, PDG Satish Saluja and Dr. Sunita and other board members. Club trainer PP Sanjay Pahuja conceived the idea of holding a new member orientation program in Hotel Sapphire on May 13, 2018.

PDG Shaju gave a presentation on the Rotary Foundation. He said, “It is a sheer delight to see the resurgence and rejuvenation of the Rotary Club of Yamunanagar which today is a 100% PHF club. The credit goes to each and every one of you.”
