• MyUCDAVIS developed 6 years ago
• Course management tool– Not just email
• Widely used by students• Not as widespread among faculty• Now outdated
• New program called Sakai– Open-source– 70 partner institutions, 5 UC’s
• Currently being developed for use at UC Davis– Faculty Training – Pilot program– Focus Groups
• Planned deployment Fall 2006
Why switch to Sakai?
• Few programmers for MyUCDavis
• Difficult to maintain
• Features are difficult to use
• Many features are not used
