On the 150th Birth Anniversary of Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi; a peace rally was conducted by the
District Administration from Ambedkar chowk to Panposh chowk. Officials of Rourkela Smart City
Limited and Rourkela Municipal Corporation also participated in the rally and spread the message to avoid using
single use plastic items. A Fit India Plogging event was also organized by Biju Yuva Vahini wing of RMC students
from several schools and college and cadets of National Cadet Corps also participated in the event. Rourkela ADM
Dr. Yeddula Vijay along with other top officials joined the event and garlanded the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at
Panposh Chowk.
RMC in collaboration with Dream Team Foundation,
has initiated project Purnanjali, a program to prevent
food wastage and feed people in hunger by collecting
remainder food from hotels, restaurants, parties, &
functions.
The project is abided by the food safety & standards
regulations 2019, and to support the noble cause, RMC
has provided the necessary utensils, vehicle, and
promotion materials to the NGO. Interestingly, most of
the hotels & restaurants in the city have come forward
and gladly agreed to be a part of this social initiative.
So, be it a restaurant, family function, or social party, if
you’re left with food items that could be fit to feed
someone, then all you’ve to do is just dial the dedicated

would arrive at your doorstep to collect the food and
distribute it among the hungry & destitute.

A Cleanliness and Plantation Drive was carried out by RMC on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti
An awareness program on conservation of water & energy, cleanliness, environment protection, benefits of LPG,
and various health schemes, was organized as part of Angikaar Campaign for the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri
Awas Yojana - Urban, Government of India, at the city Auditorium on 2nd October. A small play was also staged
to showcase several public welfare schemes & people centric programs by the Governemnt. Deputy Commissioner
Shri Sudhansu Bhoi along with other officials from RMC were present at the event.

A Free Health Checkup camp was organised by Urban Mobile Health Unit, Rourkela for the inmates of the Shelter for
Urban Homeless (SUH) of Rourkela Municipal Corporation located at Plantsite area of the city. Free medicines were
also provided to them.
Continuous Awareness Campaign by TEAM RMC is being carried out at various places of the city to aware the
homelesss and destitute persons about the Shelter for Urban Homeless and various facilities provided at these SUHs
for them by the Government. At present there are three such SUHs in Rourkela and is managed by RMC
under DAY_NULM Program.

Team RMC have been continuously visiting to various areas in the city every morning to look after the cleanliness
activities. During the visit the Team is guiding the sanitation workers and ensuring about effective collection of waste
in segregated manner. The team also taking feedback from local people regarding cleanliness activities carried out
by Rourkela Municipal Corporation.

Rourkela Municpal Corporation in association with Smile Forever is carrying out awareness campaign on every
Sunday and creating awareness regarding source segregation of waste and collecting banned single use plastic items
from households. The team motivating people on Swachhata and to stop using banned plastic items. The team is
also giving small gifts like chocolates as a token of appreciation, to everyone who voluntarily handed over single use
plastic carry bags to them.
A 3 day Training Program on Digital Payment Literacy in collaboration with National Payment Corporation of
India (NPCI), New Delhi at City Auditorium, Rourkela Municipal Corporation for SHG members and SEP
(individual) beneficiaries under DAY-NULM programme was held from 21st to 23rd October 2019. More than 300
participants participated in the training program. The participants were oriented about digital payment using BHIM
(BHARAT INTERFACE FOR MONEY) Application in the training program.

To curb the menace of Single use Plastic, Rourkela
Municipal Corporation has taken the initiative to
collect and seize the banned single use plastic and
transport it to Dalmia Cement plant in Rajgangpur
for co-processing in the cement kiln to be used as
Alternative Fuel & Raw (AFR) materials.

This Puja Season Team Rourkela Municipal Corporation tried its’ best to provide daily sanitation
service to the people, be it Durga Puja, Diwali, or Laxmi Puja despite challenging weather
condition. Not only that we have successfully made all arrangements for immersion of the idol in
