chamber a decision that president
Jinni Akins said was very difficult.
Louise Barclay is a94-year-old mother of 12kids, 25 grandchildren,32 great grandchildrenand eight great-greatgrandchildren with twoon the way. This is justher immediate family.
Her motherhoodextends to includeneighborhood childrenas well. She said she lovesher children, but not
just hers, everyones which was apparent ina letter submitted to theNederland Chamber of
Commerces Mother-of-the-Year contest.Barclay will be
crowned Mother of theYear May 9 by last yearswinner, Alice Sorensen,in front of family andfriends. She will receivea gift, and the mayor willdeliver a proclamation inher honor.
The chamber selectedKim Newtons letter outof 12 other essays.
Newton, one of Bar-clays many grandchil-dren, said her grandmais the glue in the family,even when times aretough.
