UNITY….
I dreamt I stood in a studio,
And watched two sculptors there,
The clay they used was a young child’s mind,
And they fashioned it with care.
One was a teacher – the tools she used,
Were books, music and art.
The other, a parent - working with a guiding hand,
And a gentle loving heart.
Day after day the teacher toiled
With a touch that was deft and sure.
While the parent labored by her side,
And polished and smoothed it o’er.
And when at last their task was done,
They were proud of what they had wrought.
For the things they had moulded into the child,
Could neither be sold nor bought.
And each agreed they would have failed
If each had worked alone.
For behind the parent stood the school,
And behind the teacher, the home.

Parents’ Role and Support
Monitor your child’s activities, revision and
homework
Encourage them to read widely and acquire a
reading habit. (Reading of newspaper)
Get them to share their targets with you and
review the targets when necessary.
Celebrate small successes!
1. Parents are to seek School Leaders’ permission
before taking their children out during school term and
curriculum hours. Parents are reminded that taking
children out of class during term time is detrimental to
their children’s learning and strongly discouraged.
2. For pupils returning to school after being on medical
leave, their medicate certificates (MC) must indicate
the duration that they are to refrain from participating in
physical activity. Parents/Guardians will need to remind
the doctors to indicate this information in the MC for PE
teachers’ follow up.
3. To inculcate responsibility and independence,
parents of P3 to P6 students are strongly
discouraged from delivering personal items
through the General Office or Security Posts.
4. Teachers can be contacted during the
weekdays between 7.30 a.m. and 6.00 p.m.
Teachers are not expected to respond beyond
the specified school operating hours. Queries
that come in after 6.00 p.m. will only be attended
to the next working day.

How To Set Targets?
* Look at your entry results (Pri 5 results) for all
subjects. Get the total and multiply by 0.725 to
get estimated T-score.
eg: EL: 75 Math: 66 Sci: 70 MT: 89
(75+66+70+89) x 0.725 = 210 (T-score)
* For pupils who are sitting for 3 subjects - get the
total then divide by 3 and multiply by 4 & then multiply
by 0.725 to get estimated T-score. eg:
EL: 79 Math: 75 Sci: 70
(79+75+70) divide by 3, x by 4 x 0.725 =
217 (T-score)

How is PSLE T-score calculated?
T= 50 + 10 (X-Y) / Z
where X is the pupil’s mark for the subject
Y is the average mark (mean) scored by
all the pupils
Z is the spread of the marks around the
average mark (standard deviation)
