Preschool Registration
Preschool registration for the2015-16 school year will beheld on the followingThursdays in April: April 9, 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. April 16, 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.April 23, 8:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m.April 30, 8:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m.
Registration will be held in thestaff development center at theMCS Central Office located at2552 South Church Street,Murfreesboro.
The MCS Preschool Programis a needs based program. Allstudents may not qualify forparticipation.
Children must be 4 years oldon or before August 15, 2015and reside with MurfreesboroCity Limits.
Special Olympics
MCS students will be competing in the 25th AnnualArea 16 Special Olympics on April 9th. Students willgather in the MTSU Track and Field Stadium at 10:00a.m. to compete in activities ranging from wheelchairraces to softball pitching.
Special Olympics provides year-round sports trainingand athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-typesports for children and adults.

Earth Day
MCS students are invited toattend the 14th Annual EarthDay Celebration on April 25,2015, in Murfreesboro's historicdowntown square.
This year's event is themed'Do Your Part, Be Water Smart'and will occur from 10 a.m.until 2 p.m.
There will be a green market,vendor booths with funactivities, recycling bins andentertainment from localbands.
Come enjoy the fun with us atthe 2015 Earth DayCelebration!
Adventures inAgriculture
Adventures in Agriculture is setfor April 11 from 10 a.m. to 2p.m. at the Lane Agri-Park, 315John Rice Blvd.
Artwork from Murfreesboro City School students isnow on display in the City Hall rotunda for the 25thAnnual MCS Student Art show. This year, students from kindergarten through sixthgrade have created pieces interpreting the exhibition'stheme - "E Pluribus Unum" or "Out of Many, One." There will be a public reception and awards ceremonyon April 9th starting at 4:30 p.m. and the pieces willbe on display until May 1. The exhibit is free and open to the public between 8a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, excludingobserved holidays. Please stop by and view the wonderful artworkcreated by our students.
Job Fair- Tell a Friend Join MCS on April 11th at Overall Creek Elementaryin Murfreesboro from 9 - 11 a.m. This is the perfect opportunity to meet with principalsand highlight your talents. Be sure to bring yourresume, applicable testing scores or certifications andbe prepared to interview.

MCS Schools receive BenCarson Reading Room Grants Northfield and Reeves-Rogers Elementary schoolsare the recipients of a $10,000 Reading Room grantthat provides books and a themed cozy area withfurniture to encourage reading among students.
The reading room project aims to provide acomfortable area with interesting literature that willinitiate a love of reading, increase literacy and foster alove of learning.

Asian Celebration
Murfreesboro City Schools will hosts the Asian CultureCelebration on May 14, from 6-8 p.m. at Black FoxElementary. This event willcelebrate Asian cultures andcontributions to our community.
Activities will include art, danceperformances, theater acts,music and food.
Be sure to participate in thisnight of fun activities.
Reminder: TCAPTesting is Approaching
The TCAP Achievement test isa timed, multiple choiceassessment that measuresskills in reading, language arts,mathematics, science andsocial studies for 3rd-6th gradestudents.

Achievement Announcement:OCE Career Day
Overall Creek Students were treated to an excitingexperience as they learned about differentoccupations from a myriad of volunteers at theirCareer Fair on March 26th. Learners from grades K-6 were introduced toemployees from over 27 agencies at the fair whichoccurred from 8:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Speakers setup stations and spoke directly to classes in an effortprovide students with insight into duties andrequirements of particular jobs. Students were eventreated to a Google hangout session where a Googlemanager from Silicon Valley spoke about what it's liketo work for the company and the relevance ofintegrated learning in the field. Students were able to ask questions, interact withspeakers and collect information from both inspiringand interesting volunteers. Men and women from arange of professions including police officers,ambulatory technicians, stock brokers, culinary chefs,dentists and many others gathered together todiscuss their professions. Awesome Job OCE!
