St. Mary Golf Scramble
“Building For Our Future”
On Saturday, May 4, St. Mary Parish will have a
golf scramble at Buffalo Trace Golf Course begin-
ning at 1:00pm with a shotgun start. Registration
begins at noon. Fee is $50 per person which in-
cludes cart, golf and sandwiches. Prizes will be awarded. This
event is limited to the first 25 teams. All proceeds will go to-
ward the new church.
Don’t golf but want to help? We will need volunteers for that
day to help with various things. Call in to the parish office to
volunteer. Can’t help but still want to be involved? We are
looking for hole sponsors ($50 per hole) or prizes to be given
away. Call Kevin Bartley 812-630-6828, Barb Leinenbach 812
-630-2204 or the parish office 812-482-7041.
St. Mary Parish is collecting plastic Wal-Mart,
Rural King, IGA, etc., shopping bags. These
bags will be turned into sleeping mats/blankets
for the homeless. These items are waterproof,
easy to keep clean, and provide warmth and comfort for those in
need. The Branchville prison ministry has taught the prisoners how
to crochet these mats. This gives these gentlemen an opportunity to
use their time helping others while giving them a purpose each day.
Our religious ed kids will also benefit from this project as they learn
to cut strips and loop them together to make the ball of “yarn” that
we will send to the prison, A great opportunity for them to do ser-
vice for others. Each matt takes about 1500 bags.
First Communion Prayer
Dear Jesus,
Through bread and wine at the Last Supper, and by Your holy
word, You gave the Eucharist to Your church.
You transformed common food and drink into Your Body and
Blood, and offered us a share in Your life in ways we still cannot
fully understand.
Grant now that these young people will always treasure the gift
they have in You.
Give them the grace to be faithful to You and to remain in commun-
ion with Your church.
As they receive their first Communion, the Bread of Life and Cup of
Salvation, make them always aware of the hope they have for eter-
nal life in You.
Amen.
