MacMillan Cake Sale
On Monday this week Perranporth School held a cake sale to raise money for in aid of MacMillan Cancer Sup-
port. There were lots of happy faces during break time and then some very messy faces soon after! The sale
managed to raise a very impressive £121 for Macmillan! Thank you all so much for your support.
Cross Country
This week lots of children from Year 5 and Year 6 took part in the Newquay School Cross Country event. These are a
highly competitive set of races with representation from a number of local schools. Although there were lots of ’first
race nerves’, we were very impressed by the effort from the Perranporth runners. Lots of high places were achieved
and great determination shown throughout. A huge well done to all!

Surf Star
A huge well done to Lukas Skinner in Trelawny Class for
being selected to put his incredible surf skills to the test at
The Wave Garden last week. This was a very different expe-
rience than Perranporth Beach as Lukas got the opportunity
to use the special artificial wave technology up in Snow-
donia. Lukas had a brilliant time and a video was created
of his spectacular surfing talents. You can check it out on
the school Facebook page:

Well done Lukas!
Appeal for Dominica
One of our community families has a close connection with the Island of Domini-
ca and is making an appeal for your help...
As you may have seen on the news, Dominica recently got directly hit by Hurri-
cane Marie. It is a small island of 70000 people, economically the island produces
crops to export such as sugar cane, bananas and citrus. Due to this Dominica is/
was the perfect country to visit for an eco holiday of hiking diving and enjoying its
many rivers and waterfall and miles of rainforest. This has all been destroyed. Simply Dominica needs help.
We are asking for any donation of the following items:
First aid kit, Food- tinned foods/dried foods, powder or UHT milk, water purification tablets, tarpaulins, rope, batter-
ies, solar lanterns, flashlights, baby wipes, nappies - various sizes, adult diapers - various sizes, toilet paper
duck tape, water containers - collapsible, portable camping burner, hammers, nails, washing powder, soap.
If you would like to donate any items, these can be left in suitable bags or containers in the Parent Waiting Shelter
at school or in the School Office. We will then pass on the items to the supporting families for transportation to Domi-
nica. Items must be left before Fri 13th Oct. You can also make a donation directly to a Go Fund Me page by fol-
lowing this link:

Building Learning Power Workshop
A huge thank you to those parents and families that came to our BLP Workshop on Wednesday afternoon. We were
thrilled by the number of attendees and their enthusiasm to get involved in this great initiative at our school. The
workshop was expertly led by our BLP ambassadors and Mr Harris. The children spoke confidently and eloquently
about their experience of BLP and the marvellous effects it is having on their learning and others around school. Par-
ents also did a wonderful job of trying out the various different activities and showing their very own BLP skills and
strategies too - the cup towers got very competitive!
If you weren’t able to make it this time; there’s lots of BLP information on our website and Mr Harris, as our BLP Cham-
pion, is only to happy to explain what BLP is doing for Perranporth too. Feel free to catch him or indeed any of the
staff at the school gate or make an appointment .
