개요 – M2M 전망

(P&G, Kevin Ashton) “RFID 및 다른 센서들을 일상 생활의 사물에 부착하는것이 사물인터넷을 창조할 것이며, 기계 인식의 새로운 시대를 열 것”(1998)

[ITU] 2005년 사물인터넷 보고서를 발간하면서 사물인터넷의 비전을 Tagging, Sensing, Shrinking, Thinking으로 정리

Gartner. 2002년 대비 인터넷 성장률은 75배 성장하였고, 스마트 디바이스는

2020년 2천억 개에서 2040년 1조개 이상으로 증가할 것으로 전망 (2010)

– Communication between two or more entities that do not necessarily need any direct human intervention

• MTC (3GPP)– A form of data communication which involves one or more entities that

do not necessarily need human interaction

• M2M (IEEE 802.16p)– Information exchange between a Subscriber station and a Server in the

core network (through a base station) or between Subscriber station, which may be carried out without any human interaction

– Study on Facilitating Machine to Machine Communication in GSM and UMTS [TR 22.868]

– Work scope• Charging mechanisms (e.g. simplify charging in relation to M2M purposes);• Addressing: Already today some networks are running out of E.164 numbering

space. This would be aggravated by widespread usage of M2M. IP address space limitation was also studied.

• Types of communication (e.g. one to many, many to many, relevance of mobile originated mobile terminated and always on type of connectivity); Enhancements for the identified communication model; Preferred communication models that could be implemented cost efficiently for M2M

• Handling of large numbers of subscriptions and subscriber data within the network;• Handling issues of large number of M2M subscriptions for the user of M2M

– Work scope• The possibility to change subscription for M2MEs out in the field (e.g. after contract

expiry) without direct human intervention.• The possibility to allocate the M2ME at initial power up to a network operator

without direct human intervention.• an investigation of candidate security solutions architectures that allow remote

subscription management to take place in a secure manner;• an identification of current USIM/ISIM functionality that may need to be

incorporated in a MCIM application, with or without changes to allow remote subscription management for the M2ME;

• an identification of functionality in the network, in the UICC or in the M2ME, that may need to be added due to the remote subscription management method;

• the study may identify principle requirements for protected storage and the execution environment (e.g. by collaborating with relevant working groups such as the OMTP Hardware group)

• This amendment defines an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) Physical layer (PHY) operating in the license-exempt bands below 1 GHz, e.g., 868-868.6 MHz (Europe), 950 MHz -958 MHz (Japan), 314-316 MHz, 430-434 MHz, 470-510 MHz, and 779-787 MHz (China), 917 –923.5 MHz (Korea) and 902-928 MHz (USA), and enhancements to the IEEE 802.11 Medium Access Control (MAC) to support this PHY, and provides mechanisms that enable coexistence with other systems in the bands including IEEE 802.15.4 and IEEE P802.15.4g.

• The data rates defined in this amendment optimize the rate vs range performance of the specific channelization in a given band.

• This amendment also adds support for: – transmission range up to 1 km, data rates > 100 kbit/s

• while maintaining the 802.11 WLAN user experience for fixed, outdoor, point to multi point applications.

– IEEE 802.11ac 무선랜 PHY 규격을 10배 down clocking하여, 2/4/8/16MHz 대역폭전송모드를가지며, sensor network 전용지원모드로 1MHz 대역폭모드를갖는다.

– 최대안테나 4개까지갖는 single-user MIMO를정의하며, multi-user MIMO를배제하지않는다.

– PHY packet을 1MHz 대역폭모드와 2MHz 이상대역폭모드로구분하여, 주응용목적에따라분리대응이가능하도록하며, 프리앰블의반복회수는저가용기기를위하여 2배로제한한다.

– IEEE 802.11v에정의된다양한 power saving 기능을 sensor device에맞게확장개편한다. IEEE 802.11k/u에정의된다양한기능들을활용하여광역Wi-Fi 서비스용기능들을추가로정의한다.

– Traffic Indication MAP(TIM)을세그먼트연접식으로구성하여수만대이상의 STA들의접속을통합적으로관리할수있도록한다.

– 약식화한 short beacon 전송을허용함으로써, 전력소모에대한수신기부담을최대한억제한다.

– Internet of Things: A global infrastructure for the information society, enabling advanced services by interconnecting (physical and virtual) things based on, existing and evolving, interoperable information and communication technologies. Through the exploitation of identification, data capture, processing and communication capabilities, the IoT makes full use of things to offer services to all kinds of applications, whilst maintaining the required privacy.

NOTE – In a broad perspective, the IoT can be perceived as a vision with technological and societal implications.

which can be singulated and identified. A thing may possess the following characteristics:

• physical,• or non-physical,• or virtual

– Things may be associated with "attributes": these attributes may be permanent or transient in both value and association with the thing. The thing, accompanied by any attributes, may be considered to be an "object". The "persona" of the object may change as the object travels through space and time.

– FG on M2M의 ToR(Terms of Reference)과관련하여M2M service layer에대한개념및정의, 그리고헬스케어분야의M2M 서비스에대한표준화논의를진행함

– FG on M2M의상위그룹인 SG11은 FG on M2M의전체의장으로중국의 Xu Heyuan(CATR)을지명한바있으며, 이번회의에서김형준팀장을포함하여5명의신규부의장을선임함
