a) The divinity of Jesus: i)From the beginning (1:2)- Eternal one, Alpha & Omega, Self-existence ii) Word of life; life; eternal life (1:1-2; 5:11-13, 20) – Everlasting One, the source & giver of life iii)Son of God (1:3b, 7; 3:8,2,3; 4:9, 14,15; 5:11-13, 20)- His oneness in nature, and equality with the Father, yet distinct iv)Jesus Christ- Anointed One, Messiah, Savior (4:14) - Righteous One; Sinless (2:1; 3:4)
b) The humanity of Jesus
The need to proclaim the good news

2. Our fellowship with God and one another
Conditions of true fellowship:
i)Living a life that is pleasing to God (1:5-7)
ii) Recognizing & dealing with sin (1:8-2:2)
Admit and acknowledge our sins
Confess it
God will forgive and purifies us
Have a right attitude about sins

iii) Living a life of obedience (2:3-6) Recognizing God’s authority & Lordship Follow Jesus’ example of total obedience iv) Loving God and others (2:7-11) We are to love as Jesus has loved us. Is there someone you need to show love today?
