The preparation of the body unit aims to develop your knowledge an understanding of how different types of fitness impact on your performance and how your practical performance can be improved by improving your fitness.
The focus of the unit is on:
*Fitness assessment – identification strengths/weaknesses
*Methods of training - creating a training programme
*Principles of training – ensuring improvement in fitness
*Monitoring of training programme
*Improvement in practical performance by improvement in fitness
Fitness is the ability to take part and meet the demands of an activity. In terms of sport and physical education, fitness is the body’s ability to function effectively and efficiently without becoming fatigued.
Fitness is very much sport-specific or activity-specific. You cannot state that a marathon runner is 'fitter' than a 100m freestyle swimmer.
In order to perform effectively in any activity there are three types of fitness
1. Physical Fitness2. Skill Related Fitness3. Mental Fitness
