Who was he? Leonardo Da Vinci was born 15 April, 1452.
He was born in Vinci, a little village near Florence, Italy.
Leonardo is known as a famous painter and artist, but he was also one of the world’s best inventors and engineers.
His parents were called Piero Fruosino De Antonio Da Vinci and Caterina Da Vinci.
There weren’t many books back then, so he learnt from studying nature!
Renaissance man The Renaissance began in Florence, in the 1400s.
Greek scholars moved to Italy (from Constantinople)after the Ottoman Turks invaded.
Renaissance means ‘re-birth’
It was a new age of learning, discovery and explorations.
Renaissance men were interested in science, medicine, the arts and technology.

They were all half-siblings – they had the same father, but a different mother
The End Leonardo Da Vinci died on the 2 May,1519 in Amboise, France.
Buried in the chapel of St. Hubert, Amboise, France
