I ndia is one of the worlds top 12 mega diversity countries with 10 bio-geographic regions Among them two hot

spots are in India We are the leading producer consumer processor and exporter of horticulture crops Indian Horticulture accounts for 38 of Indias agricultural GDP India is the largest producer of cashew arecanut and chilli The total area under horticulture crops is 2485 m ha with a production of 3006 m tonnes with an average productivity of 1210 tonnes per hectare Plantation and spices alone occupy 30 Per cent of the total area under horticulture crops The total area under plantation crops is 367m ha and Spices is 355 m ha with a production of 168 and 707 m tones respectively Alone by exporting spices and spice products we earn value worth of Rs 1766461 crores sustaining their robust demand in international markets Lot of genetic variability is reported in landraces local varieties improved cultivars wild species and their relatives Collection evaluation characterization conservation and utilization of PGR of plantation and spices is important to utilize for crop improvement and conservation Most of the spices have nutraceuticals values which can be documented and further utilized Looking into potentiality and scope the selected topic for the training is very much relevant and timely to inculcate the recent methods of conservation including biotechnological tools to the traineesfaculty for updating their knowledge in the field

About the course

There will be series of lectures covering above topic and fieldinstitution visits Guest faculty from UASB IIHR Bengaluru Karnataka Bio Diversity Board IISR Calicut

DCR Puttur TNAU Coimbatore CPCRI Kasargod CCRI Balahonnur RRII Kottayam and other institutions will be invited to deliver specific lectures and discussion

Eligibility

Participants from Sate Agriculture and Horticulture UniversitiesICAR institutions are invited The participants with Masters degrees in AgricultureHorticulture and related fields not below the rank of Assistant Professor

Registration

The interested candidates have to apply online through Capacity Building Programme (CBP) portal at the URL httpcbpicargovin applydetailsaspx Applicant has to pay non-refundable registration fee of Rs 50- in the form of a Demand Draft (DD) or Indian Postal Order drawn in favour of liThe Comptroller UHS Bagalkot payable at Bagalkot The online filled application should be printed out signed and approved by competent authority of the organization along with registration fee should be sent to Course Coordinator before the closing date of 15092018 If required an advanced copy of the application may be sent to the Course Coordinator However their selection will be subjected to receiving approved application only The selected candidates will be informed bye-mail and they should confirm the acceptance through return e-mail within two days

Travelling allowance and accommodation

The travel fare to and fro for journey will be provided as per ICAR norms The reimbursement will be limited to AC II Tier AC bus by the shortest route for attending the CAFT training Travel by air is not permissible Photocopy of
