Blooming Tasmania welcomes you to our first major Tasmanian Flower & Garden Festival which aims to promote the very best Tasmania has to offer in garden tourism, horticulture, floristry, landscape design & related businesses.

thThe two week Blooming Tasmania Art & Garden Festival commences on Friday 16 September with an Art Exhibition at The Village, 20 Melbourne Street, TRIABUNNA plus Open Garden & Art Trails across Tasmania.

The major event is the Blooming Tasmania Flower and Garden Festival to be held in themagnificent heritage building of the Albert Hall, set in historic Launceston City Park.

East meets West: Horticulture with a New World twist

“From exotic plants to organics, plant nutrition, mulching, pruning and shaping plants with a touch ofAsia, to container growing and so much more!”

This is an opportunity to meet with three of the key speakers for the Festival and will be an engaging practical workshop with three highly experienced horticulturists Koji, Grant and Marcus who together bring a diversity of practical gardening based skills, techniques and opinions to this dynamic and hands on horticulture experience.

Marcus Ragus, from Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens,(RTBG) is Manager of Interpretation, Learning and Community Engagement. Marcus has an extensive background in nursery, landscape & horticultural production and is a Bonsai specialist.

Grant Paterson, ecologist and environmental scientist who has Mackay Garden and Landscape Nursery specialising in collectors Palms, Pandanus, Cycads, Orchids and Bromeliads. Grant is president of Mackay Australia Plant Society.

Koji Miyazaki, horticulturist & landscape designer from Yokohama, Japan was a Graduate of TAFE Tasmania and now owns a shop in Japan specialising in Australian native plants. Koji also operates a range of special garden tours to Australia for various clients fascinated with Australian native plants.
