From The Principal’s Desk Dear Parents and Friends, Welcome back to a new term everyone! I hope you were all able to enjoy some quality time with your children and families and that you

were also able to keep warm! Term three promises to be a busy term and is generally the term where students make great gains in their

learning. The teachers all came in regularly during the holidays and have planned some exciting learning programs for all classes to enjoy.

STUDENT HEALTH AND WELLBEING:

The first few days of this term have started off very smoothly, with all children settling down well to both work and respectful play. All

classroom teachers have revisited our school values, classroom behaviour expectations and the key messages of Play is the Way. We also

held a whole school assembly on Monday morning reminding the children of our expectations of their behaviour in the yard. The grade 5s

and 6s have been on Peer Mediation duty in the playground and have already displayed great leadership by supporting our younger

students to overcome and/or manage small issues. We have teachers on yard duty alongside our Peer Mediators to ensure all children feel

safe and supported at all times.

Every staff member at Nar Nar Goon Primary also has up to date First Aid Qualifications to manage any injuries or illnesses that may

arise and on the odd occasion when there are serious injuries, we do not hesitate to call an ambulance. With this in mind, it is important

that all parents understand that the Education Department does not have Ambulance Cover or Health Insurance for students and the school

is not required to reimburse parents for the cost of an ambulance or medical expenses arising from accidents at school. It is therefore

highly recommended that parents make their own personal arrangements for health and ambulance cover while their children attend

school.

SCHOOL LUNCH ORDERS:

Thankyou everyone for your understanding and patience in regards to the situation with lunch orders this week. As explained on the

website, the Nar Nar Goon Eatery has experienced increased business demands since taking over the Milk Bar and found it difficult to

pick up and deliver lunch orders five days a week. As such, we have approached the Nar Nar Goon Take Away/Fish and Chip Shop who

have agreed to take over the lunch orders for us. The new menu is going home with all children today and lunch orders will commence as

per normal arrangements with the new business from Monday (18th July).

FRONT OFFICE / RECEPTION:

If you have recently visited the front office you will have noticed that we have added some new features such as a glass partition for the

office ladies to work behind and a new trophy cabinet. The glass partition was necessary for security purposes, particularly on those

occasions when money is being handled or when confidential phone calls are being made to parents.

The trophy cabinet has allowed us to display more prominently those shields and trophies that were previously on the shelves and walls

high up above the office partition (almost out of sight). We were very excited to include some historical artefacts in the trophy cabinet

such as a Sports Championship Shield dating back to 1929 and the original school bell that was used before the school was rebuilt on its

present site. Thank you to Graham Cox for polishing up the beautiful bell and erecting a stand for it to be displayed on so prominently in

the cabinet. When you get a chance, please feel free to pop in and have a close look at the new display cabinet.

CONGRATULATIONS:

Congratulations to Sam H in Grade 6 for achieving a score of 95 out of 100 for his recent Keyboard Examination. Well done Sam!

Congratulations also to those representatives from each grade who received awards for excellent sportsmanship from Mr Laforet at the

end of last term: Kalarni B (FW), Chase H (FS), Mason R (1/2B), Cooper G (1/2L), Xavier L (1/2V), Bella K (3G), Joel R (4/5C), Echo F

(4/5M, Cameron J (4/5T), Mason B (6N).

I would also like to make special mention of those 40+ students who received 100% attendance certificates at the end of last term. What

an outstanding effort by all of these children and congratulations to you as parents for ensuring your children are making the most of

every learning opportunity available to them. It would be wonderful if we could double (or even triple) that number of children receiving

certificates at the end of the year –THAT WOULD BE SOMETHING TO REALLY CELEBRATE!!

Kind regards,

Mrs Fran Van Lambaart

SICK CHILDREN There are many ‘bugs’ and illnesses around the school at the moment.

If your child is unwell (or if you are in doubt), please don’t send them to school, home is really a much better place for them to be.

Late Arrivals/Early Leavers

It has come to our attention that many

children who arrive late at school

have not been signed in at the office.

Every child who arrives late to school must

be signed in at the office. They will then be

given a Late Pass to give to their teacher. If

a child does not take a pass to class they will

be sent to the office to sign in and receive

one.

Likewise, every child who leaves early must

also be signed out at the office, including

the bus book.

LATE PASSES Late
