Eachoneofusmatters.Eachoneismissed.EachYesresoundsthroughtheages.Eachsmallgestureismultipliedathousandfold.

BrotherKnights,thatonehouryouspentduringourDayofPrayer,thatoneticketyoupurchasedinsupportofagoodcause,thatfriendlysmileyouofferedinwelcomeatMass,thatonekindwordofcompassion…ourworldwillbesomuchpoorerwereitnotforthesesmallactsofkindness.Nevereverthinkthatyouwon’tbemissedoryourtalentsarenotsigni i-cantenough.

ItiswheneachofusstepsforwardthatourCouncil indsitsstrength.Nomatterhowsmallthatstepis,ifthere’sahundredofus,thereareahundredstepsrightthereandthen.Andourfaithassuresusthatwhenweofferwhateverwecan,Godwillacceptourlittleofferingsandper-formHismiracleofmultiplicationtomakeitnotjustenough,butover-lowingwithplentyleftover.

Joint Council Family Picnic August 10, 2014 TheJointCouncilFamilyPicnicwasheldatKingGeorgeParkinRichmondonSaturdayAugust10.OurhostwasCouncil10681,whichdidanexcellentjobpreparinggoodfood,fungamesandgreatprizes.Theweatherwaspicture-perfectandthe.

District Deputy #23 Kevin Mendonça was pleased to see perfect attendance by the Grand Knights of all four Richmond councils as well as Faithful Navigator of John Paul I Assembly 2485. St. Monica Council 12861 Chaplain Rev. Anthony Boniface also joined in.

St. Monica Council 12861 held their installation of Executive Officers last August 24 at St. Monica Church. Council Chaplain Rev. tightenbondsacrossfamilies,generations,andCouncils.Addtothatfreshlycaught ishandcrab,musicmakingandgames,andyouhavethestuffmemoriesandlifetimefriendshipsaremadeof.ThankyoutoourcoordinatorsPGKsEdgarUrsuaandAmericoSilvaandtheirwivesforthethoughtfulplanningandad-vancedpreparationtoensurethatagoodtimewashadbyall!

The Ursuas and Silvas pack their campers and tow their 12-foot boats on the Friday and stay till Sunday while many day trippers come for just the Saturday. And others tent over Friday or Saturday night.

OverColumbianYear2013-2014,westormedheavenforthepro-lifeintentionoftheArchdioceseforeachmonth.Weprayedforfathersandmoth-ers,forourreligiousandpoliticalleaders,forabor-tionprovidersandthosesufferingfrompastabor-tions,fortheelderlyandthedisabled,forpro-lifegroupsandcrisispregnancycentres,andforthosepersecutedfortheirpro-lifestandandactivism.

Thismonthlydevotionwasanaturalextensionofthe40DaysforLifeprogramthatsawourParishcoveronedayeachspringandautumntoprayforanendtoabortioninfrontofBCWomen’sHospi-tal.

ThisColumbianYear2014-2015,weseektocom-bineourpro-lifeintentionwithanequallyimpera-tivepleaforvocations.Thetwogoarminarmaf-terall:vocationshaveplummetedasfamiliesbe-camesmaller.AsweembracethegiftoflifealongwiththeunderstandingthatthatlifeisgivenforapurposebyourMaker,wealsocometoembraceanopennesstoHiscalltoourchildrentoconsecratethemselvestoHisserviceaspriestsandreligious.

Lord,hearourprayer!

Right Here, Write Now! The Musical

The cast of performers hail from various parishes all over Greater Vancouver. They have been rehearsing since April alternately at St. Matthew’s and St. Paul’s gym. The young man on the keyboard, Mikey Jose, composed the musical score and his sister Tricia, pic-tured at left leading the re-hearsal, wrote the lyrics.

Theseyoungpeoplemaynothavealotofmoneytogive,buttrulytheygivemorethananymillionairephilanthropistcouldeveroffer—theygivethebestpartofthemselves!Theirtalents,theirtime,theirheartforthepoor,theirpowertoinspire…whatcanwegiveinreturn?

ItiswiththisinmindthatCouncil6855hasembracedthemusicalfundraiserRightHere,WriteNow!asachurchserviceprogram.Whileouryoungtalents,manystillinhighschool,arebusyrehearsingandperfectingtheirperformance,wehaveprovidedthemarketingarmtomakesurethattheireffortsbearthedesiredfruits.Andindeed,thefruitsaredesira-ble:

1) Evangelization,thatis,sharingourCatholicvalueswithCatholicsandnon-Catholicsalikethroughtheuniversalappealofstorytellingandmusic;

2) Fundraising,asproceedsbene ittheSt.PaulChurchbuildingfundandANCOPCanada,whichwillbuildahomeforthoselefthomelessbyty-phoonHaiyan;and

3) Communitybuilding,aswereachoutnotjusttoalltheparishgroupsinSt.Paulinordertosell1,700tickets,butalsotootherparishes,andtoneighbourhoodbusinessesandprofessionalsforsponsorship.

So,comeon,Bro.Knights,doyourselvesafavourandgrabtheticketsbeforethey’reallsoldout.Twohoursofyourtimeandonly$25/$40towatchashowatRiverRock?Foramessagethatappealstothewholefamilyandinspireseveryone,youngandold,withhopeandempowerment?Aheavenlybargainitis!

Bro. Mike Rippilinger readies a delivery of 450 pairs of eyeglasses for the Eyeglass Collection Program. The eyeglasses are sent to developing countries where they are cleaned, adjusted and reused by those in need.

Since 1882, more than 1.6 million men have borne the title of Knight. Collectively, these individuals have dedicated millions of hours to benefit the Order, the Church, and our society. To continue their good work, we must add new members to our organization.

Once a member recruits 2 new Knights, he is automatically enrolled into the ‘V.I.P.’ Club. Knights can ascend to higher levels by recruiting 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 50, 75, 100, 200, 300, 400, or 500 members.
