The Mysteries of the Rosary
Until about the 15th century hundreds of mysteries were part of the Rosary devotion then the 15 mysteries that
we know today were definitively fixed as "the Mysteries of the Rosary." Pope John Paul II, in his encyclical,
Rosarium Virginis Mariae, in 2002 added the five Luminous Mysteries.
Through the meditations of the complete Rosary one recalls and has impressed on his mind, the Popes tell us,
"the chief mysteries of the Christian religion," "the mysteries of our Redemption," "the great mysteries of Jesus
and His Mother united in joys, sorrows, and triumphs." The twenty mysteries are divided into four equal groups,
known as "The Joyful," "The Sorrowful," "The Glorious," and "The Luminous Mysteries."

The Knights Boomer's Game: was held on Tuesday, August 23. Walter Watts was in charge and did a Great job
setting up this family event. It was fairly well attended by our knights and their families. GK Rick Froelich threw out the
first pitch and we supplied the Flag bearing Honor Guard for the Pre-Game National Anthem. The cost was only $5.00 a
person to attend and our council still made money. The following are pictures from that event.

“Everything that is done out of Love acquires greatness and beauty.” – St. Josemaria Escriva
The "Tootsie Roll" ID Drive (Sept. 16th. - 18th., 2016) is now history. Although the forecasts called for
possible showers, the weather co-operated! It was actually sunny and warm out on Saturday afternoon. That had a big
impact on the bottom line. The Final Numbers are not in yet but we are expecting very decent results. The Generous
efforts put out by our Council's Knights, their Wives and Friends helped us attain these results. Many of our Knights
worked double or triple shifts to help meet our goals. "Peter Stresino" once again, worked all day on Friday. The "Elite
Stars" sent us at least 10 Great Volunteers. Pete Skinder's sister Cindy Brettrager, as well as many of our Knights wives.
Dick Lambke, Kevin Thomas and GK Rick Froelich collected money and brought out supplies all day long. This year Ken
Szott's home was affectionately called "Tootsie Roll Central". Al Goy, Rick Froelich, John Vlnka, Bill Clark & Larry Arquilla
assisted in a preliminary money count. The bank has the final say on this for us. Finally, working the streets and store
fronts for 2 days and in front of our three Churches were all the dedicated Volunteers with their milk jugs handing out
"Tootsie Rolls" for the "I.D. drive. Pictured below are merely some of the Great people that tirelessly helped us in the
drive. We thank them and ALL the I.D. Drive recipients Thank them for making their days a little brighter.

Moretti's, Dine to Donate: was Wednesday September 7th. and from all appearances, looks like it was a Huge
Success. Although this event was all day long and a number of Knights and friends came for lunch, at around dinner time
there were at least 20 Knights and their families there. The food was good and the people were friendly. Tom Senese &
Jerry Bromley did a wonderful job organizing & running this "Dine to Donate" event.

The New Website: If you haven't heard, our new Website is up and running. We still have a long way to go but in
comparison to many others, we are light years ahead in setting up. There are a number of different areas where we
could use your help. First of all, look in the members section. You will need to enter your K.O.C. member ID Number that
is on your membership card and your numerical birth date. Quite a few of the members have pictures by their names.
Obviously if you don't, we don't have your picture. If you want us to update or change it, send me your picture & I can
do it for you. Otherwise you can do that yourself by clicking on "update". Also, please check your phone numbers listed
to make sure they are correct. You can change that if you want.
In the "In Memoriam" section are members that have passed on to God's glory. We have tried to include information on
as many former members as possible. However, there are still quite a few that we are having a hard time finding
information on. Please, if you have that info, send it to us if at all possible and we will update that member.
In "Prayer Requests" you personally are allowed to add your own prayer requests. They will automatically stay on the
site for 30 days.
Under "Links of Interest" you can find many areas from our previous Knights of Columbus website. Check it out. Those
links were never lost, just a new way to access them.
If you click on the "Event Calendar" you will see a Calendar with the month's activities & events posted. Very Handy.
If you have any other questions, please send Jim Manfre or John Vlnka an email with them and we will try and answer
them ASAP. Please help us to help you and keep the website updated. Thanks!

Too Old for Coverage? Maybe Not
You are never too young or too old to consider purchasing life insurance. If you have a financial need for
coverage, or will in the future, a permanent life insurance policy can be just the thing you need.
When you are young and presumably healthy, coverage will be very inexpensive when compared to purchasing
the same policies when you are older.
If you’ve put off purchasing coverage, or you realize that you may need additional insurance, the Order may
still be able to help you, even if other companies cannot. In fact, in 2012, the issue age of our permanent life
insurance products was extended to age 80, and in 2014, the issue age of our term insurance was extended to
age 70. Naturally, your health, and whether or not you smoke, will be taken into consideration, so underwriting
standards for risk and age apply. But, the extensions are a great blessing for me – and it could be for you too.
Now I can help members that I couldn’t help before. Are you or one of your brother knights one of those
members?
Whether you’re 18 or 80, the Knights of Columbus has products that will work for you and your family. I look
forward to discussing coverage with you.
