Bhagavathi Partiban

Bhagavathi Parthiban came to the Trust from a low-income family. He after his school education, completed his ITI course as a Welder, worked in private welding workshops for two years and gained valuable experience in mechanisms. Today, he runs his own tinkering workshop in Tuticorin.

Anbarasan:

Anbarasan Anbarasan completed a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and got placed in an automobile company in Hosur. He passed through campus interviews as an Executive officer, in ‘Schaeffler India Hosur Limited’.

Belsie Belsie after her school education completed her B.Sc Nursing degree and now works as a Tutor in a private nursing college at Vallioor.

Successful Stories of Ex-Trust Children

Israel Israel was educated by the Trust. He successfully completed his Diploma degree in Mechanical Engineering and now works as a quality inspector at ‘ME FORGE TECH’, Bangalore.

Silver Jubilee Celebration of KWTC

Kings Schools sports meet 2020 was organised in commemoration of the silver jubilee celebration of Kings World Trust for Children on 25th

January at the school campus. The entire campus along with nearly 3,000 guests enjoyed a fabulous and memorable day from 9:00 am to 5:00pm.

A Special assembly was conducted for both the Matric & CBSE school children. Dr.Frederick Sam, Principal of Matric School welcomed the

gathering and the National flag was hoisted by Mrs. Shiny Wilson, Olympic flag was hoisted by Uncle Colin and the Kings School flag was hoisted

by Ravi, the managing Trustee. The Trustees Jyoti Motha, Ravi and Rajendra Singh were also present.

The founder Uncle Colin spoke about how KWTC was started and briefed about the starting days of KWTC and following the director

Mr.J.Navamani briefed about the journey of KWTC of 25 years. Padma Shri SHINY WILSON, ASIAN Games Gold Medalist & Arjuna Awardee was

the special guest. She spoke about the challenges she faced as a professional Indian Athlete at her school age. She motivated the children to use

the vast sporting facilities at Kings School to achieve more in their life and encouraged them to focus on their studies as well. The silver jubilee

souvenir was released by the special guest and the first copy was received by Dr.Bindhu Kumaramurugan. The academic toppers of the year

2018-19 were awarded by the special guest. This was followed by various cultural and sports events put on by the students.

The celebrations continued with a special programme for the Ex-Trust Children where the programme started with a few words from our

Founder and Chairman Uncle Colin. This was followed by a cake cutting and each of our Trust students and the foster mothers were felicitated

on stage with a momentum. Few of the Trust students shared their experience since they were in Trust to till date.

The day ended with a vote of thanks given by Mrs. Sahaya Panimalar Anu, CBSE Principal. All the arrangements were made by Mr.Vivekananth,

the Manager of Kings Schools.

Angelin Enasial Angelin Enasial came to the Trust from a low-income family.

With the medical support provided by KWTC, she regularly

attended the school. She is now doing her second year

engineering degree in Computer Science.

Mari Selvan Mari Selvan is doing his first year B.A in English in Kristu Jayanti

College, Bangalore. As he is interested in western dance, he

regularly attends evening dance classes. He participated in

intercollege dance competitions and won prizes as well.

Achievements of Bursary Children in Sports

In Swimming Competition Jerin of year 11 and Marimuthu of year 12 participated in state level swimming competition, which was held at Thiruvannamalai between 9th and 12th January. Their achievements are: Jerin got 2 silver medals in 800m freestyle, 200m backstroke and 1 bronze medal in 400m freestyle. Marimuthu got a silver medal in 200m IM, a bronze medal in 200m freestyle.

In Basketball Tournament Our under 17 basketball team took part in State Level Republic Day games Basketball tournament held at Madurai from 7th to 9th of January 2020 and got third place. The team includes the bursary children below: Nigalvan of Year 12 Sugithan, Jeyachandran and Dharneesh of Year 10 Romilton Vaz and Anton John Ronaldo of Year 11.

KINGS SCHOOL (MATRIC)

Open Day Open day for Class I-IX was held on 11th January. Most of the parents visited to receive their children’s report card. Holiday projects of Term II were displayed in the Middle block. Parents and teachers shared and conversed about the marks and other traits of the children.

Pongal Celebration Pongal Celebration was held on 14th January in A.K Hall. Pongal speech was rendered by Sreemanakshi and Swetha. They spoke on farmers and delivered a good message on not to waste food. A special song was sung by the choir students.

Republic Day Celebration

The 71st Republic day was celebrated on 26th January at our School. Students and staff participated in the celebration. School Principal unfurled the national flag followed by the Principal’s address the student. He spoke about the history of Republic day and the difference between the Independence Day and the Republic day. All students were distributed a sweet.

Awareness Programme An awareness programme was organised by the health club students of Std I-V on 30th January. Students carried pluck card with the information about Coronavirus. They met all club students in Junior and Middle school and explained about what are the precautions we can take to protect from Coronavirus.

Career Guidance Programme

A Career Guidance Programme on 'Studying in Abroad' was organised on 9th January. Std XII students of Matric and Std XI of CBSE participated. Around 150 students attended. The Speakers were: Mr Purva Saikia, Director, Taylor's University, Malaysia; Ms Preetam Saikia, Managing Director- Unihub, New Delhi. They highlighted the courses and fees structure in different foreign universities. They interacted with the children and clarified their doubts as well.

INTERNAL COMPETITIONS

KWTC Silver Jubilee Competitions Kings School gave the opportunity to the children to participate in the variety of competitions to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of Kings World Trust for Children. Based on the KWTC, the competitions like colouring the KWTC logo, find the difference between the KWTC old and new logo, essay about my school, writing and singing the prayer song and the school song, tear and paste the theme of the year 2020 (Smile Hope Dream) were held in the last week in Junior School. Colouring of KWTC logo, Rangoli, Solo Singing, Written Quiz and Essay Writing competitions were held in Middle and Senior School. The entire school of children participated enthusiastically. Winners list had been selected by the respective class teachers and the prizes were given in the following assemblies.

Invitation Making & Jewel Making Competitions

Invitation making competition for the students of Std I to III and jewel making competition for Std IV & V were held on 11th January. The students proved their talents with creative ideas and the winners were awarded with the prizes by our Principal on spot.

National Voters Day Quiz competition was conducted on 23rd January. Students of Std VIII and IX participated. The topic given was: ‘voting, elections and election commission’. The students prepared on those topics and enhanced their voting knowledge.

SPORTS

Achievements in State Level Games

State Level Republic Day games held at different venues. Swimming Competition held at Thiruvannamalai from 9th to 12th January and the Basketball tournament held at Madurai from 7th to 9th of January 2020. Six of Kings School students took part in the swimming competition and got 4 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 4 bronze medals. Under 17-basketball team took part in it and got third place.

D.Jerin of class XI got 2 silver medals in 800m freestyle, 200m backstroke and 1 bronze medal in 400m freestyle. She also received a cash award of Rs.2000/- M.Marimuthu of class XII got a silver medal in 200m IM,a bronze medal in 200m freestyle. She also received a cash award of Rs.1200/- Siranjeev Athavan.A.K of class VI got a gold medal in 4x100m freestyle relay. He also received a cash award of Rs.1200/- Satheesh Iyyappan of class VIII got a gold medal in 4x100m freestyle relay. He also received a cash award of Rs.1200/- Shaun Rohith of class VI got a gold medal in 4x100m freestyle relay and a bronze medal in 100m backstroke. He also received a cash award of Rs.1600/- Sanjeev Athavan of class VII got 4 gold medals in 50m freestyle, 50m breastroke, 50m butterfly and 4x100 freestyle relay. He also received a cash award of Rs.4,800/-

In the basketball first match, Kings School played against AVM Matriculation School, Chennai and won with the points 68:64. Second match they played against Campion School, Trichy and won with the points 75:52 and in the quarterfinals they played against Sports Hostel Tuticorin and won with the points 44:27.In the semi-finals, Kings School lost against GD Naidu Higher Sec School, Coimbatore with the points 63:62. In the third place match, Kings School played against the Thiruvarur Government School and won with the points 34:66. The Swimming coach Mr.Velmurugan, Basketball coaches Mr.Manimoli and Mr.Ramkumar and the winning teams were appreciated by our Chairman Uncle Colin, Correspondent Mr.J.Navamani, Principal Dr.Frederick Sam and Sports head Mr.Joshua.

Hat Decoration Competition

To innovate and motivate the creativeness in the children, a hat decoration competition for LKG was held on 27th

January. Students used their creativity and imagination to come up with decorative designs of hats using waste

material. They painted, decorated and made enticing hats. They enjoyed and had lots of fun.

Seminar on Institute Fostering Mental Health

St. Xavier’s College of Education conducted a two-day seminar on “Institutional

Practices Fostering Mental Health” organized by Internal Quality Assurance Cell &

Fr. Bonhoure Centre for Research of St. Xavier’s College of Education on 10th & 11th

January. Ms. Dulcy, English teacher attended this Seminar and says, “The class had

each day 3 sessions and the topics covered were Mental Health of Youth by Dr. T

Yuvaraj; Neuroscience in Learning and Behaviour by Dr. Ratna R Robinson; Coping

Skills & Stress Management by Dr G Ramanujam; Innovative Practices for Mental

Health Issues by Dr. S Samuel Asir Raj; Positive Mental Health by Mrs K Aparna;

Role of Institutions in Promoting Mental Health by Mrs K Aparna. Each session

briefed on how students and elders can overcome stress, criticism and learn to lead

a confident life, and how to control one’s emotions, problem solving ability was also

covered, how to turn stress into positive energy”.

KINGS SCHOOL (CBSE)

Pongal Celebration

Kings CBSE School students and staff all together celebrated the Pongal festival with great enthusiasm. The students

briefed about as to why the festival is celebrated, the choir team gave a song on Pongal, Diyaksha G, STD IV ‘B’

performed a special Art named ‘Silambu’; the senior students performed a traditional kummi dance. Mr. Anantha Sam,

Deputy Principal gave a special talk on Boghi, explaining on to throw away hatred, jealousy and bad thoughts from our

minds and spread love towards everyone. He also emphasized on the atrocities towards girls, women, and how we as

a society should support the women empowerment and show equal respect towards women. His speech was

motivating and ignited a social awareness among every individual. Further, Mr. Navamani, Correspondent explained

about the importance of farmers who cultivate grains and cereals with great difficulty and we should know to respect

their work and understand the value of food. All students were given sugarcane to eat.

Hindi Poem Recitation

The Hindi Poem Recitation competition was held for students of Class 1 – 3. The students could choose topics of their choice. 66 students participated and the competition was held in their respective classes. Students participated with great enthusiasm and recited for one minute. They were judged on the basis of clarity, style, Presentation and Pronunciation.

Story Telling Competition

The students of Class 4 – 5 had Story Telling Competition, whereby 23 students participated. The students were given the choice to choose their interested topics. Some spoke from outside their syllabus, while some from their syllabus. The criteria for their judgement was based on the style, clarity, Presentation and Pronunciation of the language.

Dakshin Sahodaya Chess Tournament

The Dakshin Sahodaya Schools Complex conducted the Chess Tournament for students of Under 9,11, 14,17 & 19 on 10th January. Twelve schools with 400 students from 3 districts (Tirunelveli, Tuticorin & Kanyakumari) participated. Sixteen students (8 boys – 8 girls) from our school participated. In the under 11 girls team, we secured the fourth position; and in the Under 14 boys team, we secured the fifth position.

Dakshin Sahodaya Skating Competition

The Dakshin Sahodaya Schools Complex organised the Skating Competition at Bishop Remiguise School on 7th January. 11 students from Kings School participated, among 16 schools with 220 students competing the competition. In the Under 5 – 7 age group, Ranshika R, std 3 secured the first place.
