The wellbeing of students
and families is so important, particularly during this
challenging time. To make sure we focus on wellbeing, NPS is making Wednesday
13th October ‘Wellbeing Wednesday’. Please replace
as many of Wednesday’s learning activities as you like with ideas from the wellbeing activity grid attached to this week’s learning activities.
Feel free to have your child complete an activity from the grid whenever you like and remember, as always, only do what is manageable for
you and your child.

Reading Eggs: complete an activity or read a book on Reading Eggs. HERE is a video on how to access the Reading Eggs library Break Middle Watch: 12 ways to get to 11
Introduction video: Ways to get to 11 with Miss Barnsley
Activity: To create combinations for the number 11, by drawing pictures or using concrete materials. Students are encouraged to represent the number 11 in three different ways each day, using a range of number combinations. Once students have created combinations for the number 11 with a range of pictures or concrete materials, they are to write the number sentence to match.
You will need:
• Piece of paper and pencil • Concrete materials (counters, Lego, toys, cutlery, fruit)
Lesson aim: Represent practical situations to model addition and sharing. Video: Move and Add You could: • Complete addition and
subtraction problems with Miss Britton: Addition and subtraction with Miss Britton
• Draw the following: Noah saw 12 legs walk by into the ark. How many creatures could he have seen? How many different answers can you find? Can you explain how you found out these answers? • Counting in 2s, Add
Lesson aim: Creates equal groups of objects and counts to find the total. Video: Equal groups – Sesame Street Equal Means the Same You could: • Help Curious Gorge train
the dogs for the park by sharing the treats fairly with the dogs.
• Create equal groups with Mr Wearne. You will need: - Whiteboard and marker OR paper and pencil - 12 counters or small objects
Lesson aim: Identify the attribute of 'volume' as the amount of space an object or substance occupies. Video: Exploring volume Work with Miss Davis to explore the volume of a water bottle. -Is the volume of water different in each of these containers? -Can you explain why they do or don’t have the same volume? You could: • Volume experiment: You will need: Collect 3-4 containers that
are different shapes e.g. wide, tall and thin, long, short.
Lesson aim: Identify the attribute of 'volume' as the amount of space an object or substance occupies Video: Volume and Capacity You could: • Build different Lego
towers and discuss which tower has greater and lesser volume by counting the amount of Lego pieces.
• Make 2 objects with 20 identical Lego pieces each (eg. Cube and rectangular prism). Students discuss and compare which object has a smaller/larger
together the pairs of socks in your drawers- do you have more or less than your siblings or parents?
You will need: Whiteboard and marker OR paper and pencil. Counters or objects to assist learning. Post your answers for your teacher on Seesaw
Post your equal groups for your teacher on Seesaw
• Investigate how many equal groups you can make using the numbers below. 5 9 10 12 14 15 18 20 Post your investigation for your teacher to see on Seesaw
A larger container/dish Small plastic cup Water or rice
1. Fill each container to the
top with water. 2. Observe your containers
and predict which one has the most water (the greatest volume).
3. Use the small plastic cup to count how many full cups of water each container holds. Use the large dish to catch your cups of water. Share your findings on Seesaw.
-Which container had the greatest volume (more water)? -How close were your predictions?
volume. Students then deconstruct and count the Lego pieces to check their answer.
• With a partner, find who can hold the most pieces of pasta in two hands (cupped together). Students compare the volume of their handfuls by putting the pasta into clear cups and looking at the height in the cup.

Below are some of the words that described Quokka and qualities he wanted to have instead. Which of these words can you use to describe you? PE: Sock bean bag toss A great use for that large carboard box you were about to recycle. Cut holes of various width and shapes and assign point values to each one. Flip the box upside down and you’ve created an instant carnival-style bean bag toss game. You can choose to use small balls such as ping-pong balls if you have them, if not socks are perfectly fine. If you don’t have a box, you could use shoes as targets and try to toss rolled up socks into them. Verse a loved one and have some fun. Enjoy 😊😊
