As you aspire to get admitted into our college there are a few things that w e would like to talk straight from our heart. College life provides you to the platform to bui ld your career. This phase of your life is crucial in shaping your personality so that you come across as a resourceful person in the society --be it in academics, liberal arts, sports, entrepreneurship or social work including politics. As one of the best colleges of Assam. you can be assured of a healthy environment in which to shape your destiny here. Our physical and human resources are geared up to help achieve your desired goals in life. In this regard, let us share some good news. We have embarked on strengthening our ICT-based Teaching-Learning-Evaluation process with the active help, support and facilitation of IIT, Kharagpur. Due to COVID-19 the Online Classes and other activities have achieved new height, most of faculty members as well as students have actively participating in the new way of learning. We hope that this will go a long way in fringing in quality in our teaching, learning and evaluation process. Moreover, seven of our Science departments. viz. Depts of Botany, Zoology, Physics. Chemistry, Mathematics, Biotechnology and Computer Science have received support from the Department of Biotechnology, Govt of India, under the Star College Scheme put a new dimension in strengthening science education in our College. Our endeavour to offer the best possible options and facilities in the academic field is an on-going process and we will continue to do so In the future as well. We are focusing on students centric works like regular workshops on personality development and soft skills, Public speaking entrepreneurship development etc. We have signed MoA s with several Industries and working for students internship. GST course is also running as add on course for commerce students in collaboration with Assam Skill Development Mission.

GENERAL RULESA student cannot organize gatherings, meetings and demonstrations without the prior permission of the College authorities. Such gatherings, meetings and demonstrations will be considered irregular and strict action may be taken in such matters. Only recognized student bodies like the duly elected Students’ Union will have the right of representation in student-related issues. Formation of students’ forums, societies and associations etc. must come under the supervision of the College authorities.
RULES REGARDING THE USE OF SOCIAL MEDIAStudents are advised to exercise self-regulation, caution and discreetness in the use of the various platforms of social media. Abusive and obscene posts and updates in platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp and others often prove to be incriminating in the eyes of the laws of the land. The College authorities will take strict action against abusive posts either generated or shared by misguided students. Such students will be immediately handed over to the law enforcing agencies.
COLLEGE UNIFORMStudents inside the College campus must adhere to a uniform dress code. Violation of the dress code will lead to expulsion from the College with immediate effect. The dress code is as follows:Boys: White shirt and black formal trousers (jeans trousers are strictly forbidden) and maroon pullovers or sweaters (for winter).Girls: White chador with green border and muga-coloured mekhela or white salwar kameej and green Jaipuri dupatta or bandhni and maroon pullovers or sweaters (for winter). Leggings and Patiala salwars are strictly forbidden.
IDENTITY CARDA student must carry her/his Identity card at all times in the College campus. The ID card, issued at the time of admission must be produced as and when demanded by the College authorities or security personnel.
ADMISSION PROCEDUREEntire Admission process is in ‘Online mode’ up to essential payment of fee.
1. Before going to apply, candidates should keep ready with them the following documents• Signed Digital Passport size photograph (size below 200kb)• Scanned copy of marksheet of the last examination passed (size below 200kb)• Scanned copy of HSLC certificate (size below 200kb)• Scanned copy of Caste certificate if applied for Caste category (size below 200kb)
2. Applicants have to register their names online www.kaliaborcollegeonline.in, the link is also available through our website www.kaliaborcollege.org. The login ID will be their Mobile No. and they have to give a password of their own. The password is generally of six characters (one digit, one special character and alphabets)
3. After successful registration they can fill up their personal details in the form by logging in the same link through their login ID and password and submit the form.
4. Candidates should keep a print out of their form.5. If selected the candidates will get an SMS and will get a receipt.6. All admitted students have to submit their print-out of Admission Receipts at the time of collection of Identity Cards and for all
other purposes if and when necessary.7. There will be a simple process to get new password for Forgot Password.8. The Helpline No. will be available for all queries regarding online form submission.9. As the Cell Phone number necessary for all SMS and other admission process, students are requested to be careful in giving their
proper Cell Phone number and not to change phone no. during their study. If some reason they have to change the phone no. it should be communicated to college office immediately
10. As this year no physical verification of documents will not done all responsibilty lies up on the student himself/herself. If any false found at a later time he/she will be held respossible for such mistake and his admission will be cancelled.
11. If a student takes admission in some other institution after got selection in this college, he/she must inform the college office immediately.
SELECTION PROCEDURE Selection of candidates in all courses/ honours/ combinations will be strictly on merit basis. Govt. reservation rules will be followed. Selection lists will be displayed in the college website. The college authority has the right to reject any candidate on moral ground for any criminal offence or any complain against his/her character. The decision of the principal in all cases regarding admission is final and bound. Admission for Post Graduate courses will be held as per guidelines of Gauhati University

RULES & REGULATIONS Students admitted into an academic programme must adhere to the rules and regulations laid down by the College authorities. Violation of the rules, unruly conduct and indiscipline, disrespect to the authority and the faculty and staff as well as seniors will be severely dealt with. Ragging and bullying in any form or manner will be strictly punished.
ATTENDANCE A student must attend a minimum of 75% classes in an academic year. Students failing to attend the minimum percentage will be debarred from appearing in the sessional, mid-term and end-term examination. A student who is unable to attend the minimum attendance for bona fide reasons must produce a leave note forwarded by the head of the department to the Vice Principal’s office. Leave notes must be furnished necessary documents with credible reasons. The college reserves the right to disqualify a student who fails to attend classes for a longstretch of time without a leave note or permission of the college authority.
RULES DURING EXAMINATIONS A student must appear in all Internal examinations, projects and viva conducted by the College and must complete home assignmentsand interships as advised. Failure to appear in the internal examinations will lead to restriction for filling up of external examination form. Failure to present proper documents like admit cards may lead to action by the Examination Board. Unruly conduct and adoption of unfair means in the examination hall on the part of the examinee may lead to expulsion from the examination hall.

THE CHOICE BASED CREDIT SYSTEM (CBCS): Gauhati University introduced CBCS system in UG level from 2019. Affiliated colleges will implement the CBCS in their under-graduate programme in accordance with the REGULATIONS OF THE UNDER GRADUATE CHOICE BASED CREDIT SYSTEM (UGCBCS) GAUHATI UNIVERSITY. 2019.
UNDER GRADUATE CBCS (UG-CBCS) PROGRAMMES: The undergraduate degree programme in the CBCS will have courses spread across six-semesters. Two consecutive (one odd and one even) semesters will make up an academic year. An UG course shall be of Six Semesters covering three Calendar Years (Academic Sessions -June to May). The duration of the Odd Semesters (First, Third and Fifth) shall be ‘June to November’, and that of Even Semesters (Second, Fourth and Sixth) shall be ‘December to May’.
NATURE AND NOMENCLATURE OF COURSES:
In line with the UGC’s guidelines, the courses are categorized as Core courses, Elective courses or Ability Enhancement courses
Core Course: A Core course is a course that has to be compulsorily studied. A student in an undergraduate degree programme with Honours will have to take up 14 core courses, each of 6 credits. In a Regular undergraduate degree programme a student will need to take up 12 core courses, each again of 6 credits.Elective Course: An Elective course is to be chosen by the student from a pool of such courses on offer and will essentially be of three types:1. Discipline Specific Elective Course: An Elective Course which is offered by the main discipline2. Generic Elective Course: A Generic Elective Course is offered by an unrelated discipline and has the objective of broadening the
academic experience of a student. A student can select any Generic Elective Course from the pool that the college is offering.3. Dissertation/Project: as an option in lieu of a 6 credit Discipline Specific Elective course in the sixth semester only. Ability Enhancement
Courses will be of two types:• Ability Enhancement Compulsory Courses of 4 credit courses are mandatory. A student will have to take up 4 credit course in English
Communication/ MIL Communication in the 1st semester and Environmental Science in the 2nd semester.• Skill Enhancement Courses that would be skill based will have to be selected from pool of courses on offer. The Gauhati University
has prepared Skill Enhancement Courses for various disciplines from the list of SEC provided by the UGC template. However colleges are free to develop their own SECs independently which must have prior approval of the Academic Council.
