We have finally made it! The Brisbane Performing Arts Challenge (BPAC) is here! We haveone last practice this FRIDAY (June 5th) to try and pull everything together for the
competition this next Monday (QUEENS BIRTHDAY)! I think we are all excited - and will
be even more excited when it is finally OVER! The girls have been working very hard & weare so pleased to have so many a part of our first competition here, in Brisbane.
There are nine (9) other groups in this category and we are very excited that we will actuallyhave some competition. These girls get to experience what a competition is really like and
from now on we will only get better and hopefully train HARDER!
ANYONE WHO WOULD LIKE TO COME AND WATCH THE COMPETITION:Tickets: $10.00 (Per Session)
Location: Logan Entertainment CentreTime: 8am (We are the First Category on Monday)
WHO: ALL Heilani STUDENTS are invited (whether competing or not)WHAT: Sleepover @ PCYC to prepare for our early morning competition the next day. Wewill braid our hair, prepare our costumes, watch competition videos & make sure we are ALLfresh and ready in the morning to grab our things and WALK over to the EntertainmentCentre on Monday MORNING!WHERE: Logan PCYC [We will start in the middle hall & sleep in the Jacaranda Room,once the restaurant is closed]WHEN: 7pm onwardsTO BRING: Please eat before you come & provide your own snacks/drinks while there! CURRICULUM
We have finished our Hawaiian Oli E Pele E Pele and are now working on our Kahiko
Aia La o Pele. We have completed the actions to the 3rd verse and the words to the 4th
verse. Make sure to have the words to the 4th verse MEMORIZED as we will only learn theactions to this verse, once the majority of you have done so. PLEASE USE THE CLASS page
on the HEILANI WEBSITE http://www.heilani.com/Dance_Classes.html as a tool to
practice (the words and music are both on there). We should be able to FINISH Aia La O
Pele this month (before school holidays). We have also learned two new Tahitian Oteas
which will be included in the BPAC competition.

Prep Time: 30 MinutesCook Time: 20 MinutesReady In: 50 MinutesServings: 30
INGREDIENTS:945 ml oil for deep frying448 g cream cheese, softened30 ml soy sauce336 g imitation crabmeat, flaked140 g water chestnuts, drained and chopped5 green onions, chopped2 (14 ounce) packages wonton wrappers
DIRECTIONS:1. Heat oil in a large, heavy saucepan to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).2. In a medium bowl, mix the cream cheese, soy sauce, imitation crabmeat, water chestnuts and green onions.3. Place approximately 1 teaspoon of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each wonton wrapper. Fold intotriangles and seal edges with moistened fingers.4. In small batches, fry the wontons in the hot oil 3 to 4 minutes, until golden brown. Drain on paper towels
