Sometimes life actually does get better! And when it does, we may feel great relief - for just a while. Then the “better” be-comes the “new normal” and we actually forget to express our gratitude to God for our blessings. It’s so easy to forget, but we have many ways to remember - we can take time for adoration of God, for talking to God through prayer, and for intentional self-sacrifice that expresses our thankfulness and praise. This time of the year, between political ads, TV news commentary endorsing a political candidate by the way they report the news, and various political power packs pushing indi-vidual political candidates, it is important to ask ourselves, “How should I vote as a Catholic?” There are many groups with pamphlets who try to influence us with their thoughts. I think it is important for us to remind ourselves that Archbishop Carlson is the teaching authority in the ways of our Catholic faith here in the Archdiocese of St. Louis. He has written several articles on viewing election issues through the “lens of faith.” These have been published in the St. Louis Re-view. In case you missed them, I have complied three articles from the St. Louis Review as an insert in this week’s bulletin. Even if you have read them before, it is certainly worth reading again. In fact, read it several times. Let us pray for each other this week.

October 13th marks the 99th Anniversary of the miracle of the sun at Fatima after the apparitions of Our Blessed Mother to three children requesting the recitation of the rosary. Our par-ish will join more than 16,000 other Rosary Crusades through-out the country next Saturday, Oct. 15th. The rosary will be-gin at 11am on our church parking lot. The intention is to beg God through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother to save America from today’s immorality and secularism. All are wel-come. Bring a rosary (and lawn chair if needed).

40 Days for Life From September 28 through November 6, our community will join with hundreds of other cities and towns participating in 40 Days for Life, a life-saving campaign made up of prayer and fasting, community outreach, and peaceful vigil. Our par-ish vigil day is Monday, October 17 at Planned Parenthood in St. Louis. A sign-up sheet is available in the vestibule. Our help is especially needed between the hours of 3pm and 7pm.
