TravelMany of the performers in HFC choral and instrumental ensembles have the opportunity to participate in concert tours. Tour locations in North America have included Chicago, Hawaii, Stratford, Toronto, and Washington, D.C. HFC groups have also traveled to Europe over the past several years, visiting France, Germany, Great Britain, Scandinavia, Spain, and Switzerland. Proceeds from the annual HFC President’s Collage Concert help to make this travel possible.

recordingsHFC music groups have released several CDs, including recordings of every President’s Collage Concert since 1997. Please contact Kevin Dewey for more information.

BookingsHFC bands and choirs are available for bookings such as weddings, conventions, dances, and church or civic functions. Proceeds from these engagements help to defray travel expenses for student ensembles. For information, please contact Rick Goward or Kevin Dewey.

Joining an HFc ensemBleOpen rehearsals are held at the beginning of each semester for Blue Fusion, Concert Choir, Studio 110, and Vanguard Voices. Big BandThe Henry Ford Big Band, founded in 1981, has performed at major jazz festivals throughout the world. They have entertained at the last four Presidential Inaugural Celebrations in Washington, D.C., and were headliners, with Sonny Rollins, Norah Jones,and Tom Jones, at the “Jazz à Juan” festival in France in 2012. In addition to concerts, the Big Band performs numerous dance engagements throughout the year.

Blue FusionThis entertaining vocal jazz ensemble presents exciting music in a variety of styles, performing with Big Band, their own trio, or a cappella. Blue Fusion has traveled with Studio 110 for concert tours to Chicago and Toronto.

Henry Ford cHorusFeaturing the talents of HFC students, faculty and staff, as well as local residents, the Henry Ford Chorus sings a variety of music including classical, pop, jazz, and Broadway hits. The group has traveled to Chicago, Notre Dame, Stratford, and Toronto for concert tours.

meTropoliTan sympHony BandThe largest community college concert band in Michigan, the Symphony Band includes HFC music students, advanced placement high school students, students from neighboring universities, and members of the community. They perform traditional concert band literature and orchestral transcriptions.

midnigHT BlueThis accomplished vocal jazz ensemble performs the most challenging vocal jazz arrangements with big band, their own trio, or a cappella. Midnight Blue joined forces with the Big Band for special performances for the last three Presidential Inaugural Celebrations in Washington, D.C.

renaissance voicesThe women of Renaissance Voices enjoy performing the finest in treble choral literature in a variety of styles and languages. The ensemble has taken four overseas concert tours and released three CDs.

sTudio 110The members of Studio 110, an eclectic mix of musicians from recent high school graduates to retirees, perform a wide selection of jazz favorites in their concerts. Studio 110 has traveled with Blue Fusion for concert tours to Chicago and Toronto.

sympHonic Wind ensemBleKnown as HFC’s “instrumental honors group,” the Symphonic Wind Ensemble features the top musicians from other HFC bands in performances of challenging compositions and transcriptions.

vanguard voicesThis 75-voice chorus, sponsored by the City of Dearborn Recreation Department and choir-in-residence at HFC, performs the best in traditional and contemporary choral music. Vanguard Voices is proud to sponsor Vanguard Premieres, a composition contest and commission program which has introduced more than 40 new compositions to the choral world.
