Dr. Kathy KrawczykDixon Hughes Goodman Professor of Accounting, Former Jenkins MAC Program Director for 14 years
Dr. Kathy Krawczyk teaches accounting and tax research in the MAC Program. She has won numerous teaching awards, including NC State Outstanding Teacher Award, NC State Alumni Distinguished Undergraduate Professor Award, and the COM Board of Governor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. Dr. Krawczyk has also published articles in a variety of journals, lately focusing on the relation between MAC student characteristics and class performance, and the use of virtual worlds to simulate real-world audit procedures. She is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and has taught CPE classes on several accounting research tools.
Bonnie HancockProfessor of Practice in the Jenkins MAC Program
Bonnie Hancock is a professor of practice in the Jenkins MAC Program and the executive director of the NC State Poole College of Management Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Initiative. Bonnie brings unique insights and executive management, as well as practical perspectives on managing risk across increasingly complex global enterprises. Bonnie’s background includes executive positions at both Progress Energy and Exploris Museum—including service as president of Progress Fuels, senior vice president of finance and information technology, vice president of strategy and vice president of accounting and controller. She currently serves on several corporate boards.

Dr. Mark Beasley Deloitte Professor of Enterprise Risk Management, Director, ERM Initiative
Dr. Mark Beasley oversees students in the Jenkins MAC Program’s Enterprise Risk Management concentration. He is the Director of NC State’s ERM Initiative, which provides thought leadership on the topic of ERM, with a particular focus on its integration with strategy and governance (www.erm.ncsu.edu). He served on the board of the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO) for over seven years and was part of the COSO leadership team that developed its Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) – Integrated Framework to help boards of directors and senior executives effectively oversee their most significant emerging risks.
Scott ShowalterDirector and Professor of Practice, Jenkins MAC Program
Scott Showalter is the director and a professor of practice in the Jenkins MAC Program and a former partner with the international accounting firm KPMG. His roles with the firm included numerous global, national and local roles. Since joining the NC State faculty he has received numerous college and university teaching, research and services awards, including the NC State Alumni Distinguished Undergraduate Professor Award. His teaching experience coupled with professional accounting career provides students with sound learning wrapped in real world experiences. Mr. Showalter remains active professionally as the chair of the Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board,chair of the North Carolina Association of CPA’s, and member of AICPA, PCAOB and GASB task forces.

The Admissions Committee evaluates candidates on three criteria:
Undergraduate Academic Record and Grade Point Average Including prerequisite accounting courses for those without an accounting undergraduate degree.

Accelerated Summer Accounting Prerequisite (ASAP) Program
The ASAP Program is a summer program designed for non-accounting majors who have been admitted to the Jenkins MAC Program with an undergraduate GPA of 3.2 or higher. The 5 week program is intended to provide a fundamental understanding of undergraduate accounting concepts and topics necessary to prepare students for MAC core courses and electives. Successful completion of the ASAP Program will satisfy all prerequisites for the Jenkins MAC Program and students are able to begin graduate courses in the fall.

The Jenkins MAC program is looking for applicants who display intellectual rigor, leadership skills, aptitude for teamwork, and a strong academic background.

Merit-Based Scholarships Poole College’s accounting department administers merit-based scholarships from the department, CPA firms, and local businesses for outstanding Jenkins MAC candidates. To be considered for scholarships, completed applications must be submitted by the February 1st deadline.
Fellowship Program The Fellowship Program is made possible through a partnership between sponsoring CPA firms, the NC State Graduate School and the Poole College of Management’s Department of Accounting. A fellowship provides financial support for educational expenses and also may include an offer of employment upon graduation.
Recipients of MAC Fellowships are selected based on their scholarship, leadership, service, experience, presence and integrity. Applicants must submit a completed application by February 1st to be considered for a fellowship.
The MAC Fellowship Program on average awards 12 fellowships (a combination of firm-sponsored and academic) each year. Fellows in recent years have received offers of employment in Atlanta, Charlotte, Greensboro, New York, Raleigh, and Washington, D.C.
Assistantships Graduate assistants are paid to assist faculty with teaching and/or research activities. Opportunities are also available to assist with the accounting tutorial center, teach accounting labs and work for the MAC Program or ERM Initiative. Over 50% of the MAC class typically receives a GA position. Applications are available after the new student advising session held in March.
