A rally on Swacch Bharat Abhiyan was organized by Govt. High School, Pull Tawi
in collaboration with Jammu Municipal Corporation wherein students, school staff
and Officers/staff of JMC participated in the rally. Sh. R.S. Jamwal (KAS), Joint
Commissioner (A), JMC was chief guest on the occasion who flagged off the rally.
The rally was marched from the school premises towards Bikram Chowk, Jammu. A
play on Health & Hygiene was also enacted by the Students.
The motive behind organizing the rally was to create awareness among the
general masses about the importance of Swacch Bharat Abhiyan so that every citizen
can come forward for extending their helping hands in maintaining the surroundings.
While speaking on the occasion Sh. R.S. Jamwal, Joint Commissioner (A), JMC
stressed that there is need to aware the children about maintaining proper sanitation
and hygiene as they are future of the nation. He added that such kind activities shall
be organized so that more and more people can be aware about the importance of
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
Also present on the occasion were Health Officer, Dr. Anita Salgotra, Committee
members Sh. Sunil, Sushil and Sh. Charanjit Singh and head of institution Smt.
Sunita Gupta presented vote of thanks to all participants for their presence and
cooperation.

Meeting regarding setting up of Solid Waste Management Project in Jammu city.
Today on 10.11.2016, a meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Dr.
Manmohan Singh (KAS), Municipal Commissioner with Sr. Manager, Sh. Manjeet
Pugalia, International Coil Ltd. Delhi in the Conference Hall of Jammu Municipal
Corporation, the Joint Commissioner (Adm), Sh. R.S. Jamwal (KAS), Chief Accounts
Officer, Sh. Neeraj Gupta, Secretary, Sh. Ranjeet Singh, JMC and other technical staff
members of JMC were also participated in the meeting. At the outset of the meeting various points were discussed in brief about setting
up of Solid Waste Management Project in the city, the Consultants gave presentation
and share their experiences and opinions while establishing the project in other city.
Meanwhile the Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation underlined the
determination of Jammu Municipal Corporation to start the solid waste management
project immediately for Jammu. Solid waste Management is one among the basic
essential services provided by Municipal authorities in the country to keep urban
centres clean. Though Municipal authorities have held the responsibility of managing solid
waste from their inception over three centuries ago, the issue seldom got the attention
it deserved. As there is a dire need of the project without affecting other important
parameters like Noise Pollution, Air Pollution. Water Contamination etc, should also
be taken in view while establishing the project. During the meeting the consultants show some products which have come up
from waste material e.g (Waste to Pellet) which will be used in daily life and they also
share some other parameters which show the necessity of the project for the city. At
the end of the meeting Commissioner, JMC and other Officers thanked them and
asked for preparing Detailed Project Report (DPR).

Swachhata Survekshan-2017, Review meeting by Commissioner, JMC
In order to review the progress of Swachhata Survekshan, a survey to be
conducted in the month of January, 2017 and also to review the sanitation services, a
meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Dr. Manmohan Singh (KAS),
Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation today on 10.11.2016. During the
course of meeting points relating to Swachhata Survekshan were discussed in detail
and progress achieved as per prescribed parameters was discussed. It was impressed
upon the sanitation staff to improve sanitation scenario in their respective areas and
also monitor that sweeping, collection and transportation of municipal solid waste is
carried in the prescribe manner. The Commissioner, JMC stressed for making areas
open defecation free and directed the Sanitary Inspectors to issue notices to owners of
plots who have constructed jhuggis/temporary structures in their plots without
providing the facility of toilets which is a main cause of open defecation.
He also directed the sanitation staff to start door to door collection in their
respective wards and also collect user charges from the household against proper
Govt. receipts. He further emphasized that in order to ensure door to door collection,
sanitation material, wheel barrows, dustbins, hand gloves, masks, shoes etc. be
procured and provided to sanitation staff. Collection bins be installed wherever
required ensuring that there is no open waste collection points. He further directed
the sanitation and transport staff to work in coordination to ensure that sweeping,
collection and transportation of municipal waste is done at regular intervals.
The meeting among others was attended by R.S. Jamwal (KAS), Joint
Commissioner (A), Neeraj Gupta (KAS), Chief Accounts Officer, Ranjit Singh (KAS),
Secretary, Dr. Anita Salgotra, Health Officer, Talat Mehmood Khan, Chief Transport
Officer, AEE (Mechanical), Sanitation Officers, Transport Officers and Sanitary
Inspectors.

JMC CONDUCTS EXCLUSIVE DRIVE FOR REMOVAL OF UNAUTHORIZED ADVERTISEMENTS
On the instructions of Dr. Manmohan Singh (KAS) Commissioner, Jammu
Municipal Corporation Jammu and under the supervision of Sh. R.S. Jamwal (KAS)
Joint Commissioner (Administration), the Enforcement staff conducted an exclusive
drive for the removal of Hoardings, signboards, billboards and banners which had
been displayed / erected upon public places for advertisement unauthorizedly.
During the drive the team removed the hoardings, sign boards, banners etc from the
public places / poles which were installed / displayed by various Business
Establishments, Institutions, Agencies, Firms etc without permission in different
areas under the jurisdiction of Jammu Municipal Corporation and seized 2 no’s of
truck loads of such material and impounded it to the Municipal Yard at Town Hall,
Jammu.
All the firms / agencies are hereby asked to remove the hoardings/sign
boards/banners from the public places/poles to avoid penal action under law.

Discussion of Draft Proposal of Smart City Jammu.
A meeting regarding discussion on draft proposals for Smart City Jammu
Challenge round III Phase-2 was held under the chairmanship of Divisional
Commissioner, Jammu today on 23.11.2016 at PWD Guest House, Gandhi Nagar,
Jammu wherein Sh. Hirdesh Kumar Singh, IAS, Commissioner/Secretary to Govt.
Housing & Urban Development Department, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu and all
Jammu based Heads of Departments participated. During the course of meeting M/s.
Voyants Solutions Pvt. Ltd. the Technical Consultants gave power point presentation
of the Jammu Smart City proposal prepared by them. The Divisional Commissioner,
Jammu directed all the HoDs to share the information relating to projects which are
under consideration/implementation level or at the final stage be shared with the
Consultants within 3 days so that the same can incorporated in the final draft of
Smart City proposal. He also directed all the heads of departments for furnishing
above detail to Commissioner, Jammu Municipal on daily basis for next 3 days.
He further suggested that for wide publicity of Smart City project so that
suggestions as well participation of general public for preparation of final draft of
Jammu smart city proposal be sought using off and on line modes for which Deputy
Commissioner, Jammu shall be the Nodal Officer and all inputs required for the same
shall be provided by the Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation.
All the Jammu based Head of Departments assured that they shall share
feedback relating to their respective projects which are under
consideration/implementation level to be incorporated in the final draft of Jammu
Smart City proposal.
The Divisional Commissioner, Jammu also directed all HoDs to sign
Memorandum of Understanding within 2-3 days for effective preparation of final
Jammu Smart City Proposal.

He appealed the general public as well all stakeholders to participate by ways of
sending their valuable suggestions/comments so that an accurate final draft Jammu
Smart City proposal can be prepared.

Efforts for streaming the drainage system in Jammu City initiated by JMC
For redressing the sanitation problems in Jammu City, the Jammu Municipal
Corporation has launched drive in different parts of the city during which
encroachments made over drains by the shopkeepers were removed so that there
could be no choking of drains especially during rainy season. Further continuing the
said drive today the team of Jammu Municipal Corporation launched the drive in Nai
Basti area during which platforms (pacca tharas) constructed over drains which is a
main cause of choking were removed. During the drive, Sh. Kavinder Gupta, Hon’ble
Speaker, J&K Legislative Assembly was there at that time and interacted with
shopkeepers and general public as well and added that Nai Basti area shall be
developed at par with Raghunath Bazar so that the face lifting of the area can be
done.
Shopkeepers as well as general public present on spot appreciated the role of
Jammu Municipal Corporation and also thanked the Hon’ble Speaker for paying
attention towards Nai Basti area. Dr. Manmohan Singh (KAS), Commissioner,
Jammu Municipal Corporation also extended thanks to the shopkeepers and general
public for coordinating with Jammu Municipal Corporation during the drive.
He further appealed the general public not to construct platforms over drains for
avoiding choking of drains, as the choking is the main cause of in-sanitary conditions
in Jammu City.
During the drive Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation was
accompanied by R.S. Jamwal (KAS), Joint Commissioner (A), Rajesh Gupta, Kamni
Kesar, Chief Enforcement Officers and Talat Mehmood Khan, Chief Transport Officer,

JMC SEALS SHOPS AND A SHOWROOM AT GANDHI NAGAR JAMMU
On the instructions of Dr. Manmohan Singh (KAS) Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation Jammu and under the supervision of Sh. R.S. Jamwal (KAS) Joint Commissioner (Administration), the Enforcement staff sealed two no’s of shops constructed by Sh. Aditya Dogra at 74 D/C Gandhi Nagar, Jammu and also a showroom of Duck Back at 34 D/C Gandhi Nagar, Jammu under section 8 (1) of J&K Control of Building Operation Act, 1988 as the said shops and showroom have been raised in the rear set back area unauthorizedly and in violation of the land use of the area from residential to commercial one. The said illegal constructions seriously effect the planned development of Jammu City and contravene the zoning regulation.
The sealing operation has been conducted with the help of Police Force from District Police Line, Jammu.
The Jammu Municipal Corporation again appeals to the General Public to refrain from making encroachments and unauthorized constructions / Conversion in violation of land use and warned for strict action as admissible under rule / in case of any violation.

Smart City Discussion with Chamber of Commerce & Industries, Jammu
A meeting regarding discussion on draft proposals for Smart City Jammu held
under the chairmanship of Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation Dr.
Manmohan Singh (KAS) in the meeting hall of JMC with the representatives of
Chamber of Commerce & Industries, Jammu led by its President Rakesh Gupta
accompanied by other members of CCI Sham Lal, Sr. Vice President, Arun Gupta,
Secretary General, Rahul Mahajan, Secretary, Ashu Gupta, Treasurer. During the
course of meeting M/s. Voyants Solutions Pvt. Ltd. the Technical Consultants gave
power point presentation of the Jammu Smart City proposal prepared by them. The
members of CCI, Jammu appreciated the steps of JMC for making proposal regarding
Jammu Smart City and assured they shall extend their full cooperation to JMC in
making Jammu a Smart City. Further, all the members of CCI, Jammu gave their
suggestions, opinions and views for the same.
Chamber of Commerce would help JMC to conduct extensive public participation
through bulk SMS campaign, Face book page promotion and whatsApp. Also,
Commissioner, JMC instructed the officials to undertake the public participation
platforms seriously and conduct extensive citizen engagement through both offline
and online modes.

Super Sucker Machine inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister under
Swachh Bharat Mission to improve the sanitation scenario in Jammu
City.
Today Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh in presence of Dr. Manmohan
Singh (KAS), Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, inaugurated the Super
Sucker Machine at MAM Stadium, Jammu which consists of suction pump having
capacity of 3800 cum. per hour. It will be used for de-silting of trunks sewers
pipelines/open drains and free flowing sludge/slurry including covered deep drains
where manual access is not possible. It is first kind of machine in J&K State
contributed by the J&K Bank under its CSR initiative as per guidelines of Swachh
Bharat Mission at the cost of Rs. 1,41,11000/- The machine will clean big
nallahs/deep drains like Krishna Nagar Nallah, Nai Basti, Science College, Nanak
Nagr, Trikuta Nagar, Kabir Colony, Vishal Nagar etc. especially during rainy season it
will play a vital role in cleaning major nallahs of the City which are difficult to clean
manually as it has capacity to suck heavy material and consists two big tanks
mounted with it. The machine also has a high pressure jetting pump pratissoli (Itlay)
with discharge capacity of 260-280 LPM and pressure of 140-160 bars. It will help
JMC in achieving its objective of Swachh Bharat Mission and making Jammu a Smart
City.
While speaking on the occasion Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister lauded the steps
of Jammu Municipal Corporation towards making Jammu a Smart City and added
that this machine will be a milestone in redressing the cause of choking of major
nallahs and appeals the general public not to throw construction material/plastic
material in nallahs as it is a main cause of choking of the nallahs resulting into
overflowing and damage to the public property etc.
