PRESIDENT’S REPORT
First, let me express a very warm welcome to you all, and especially
all our international competitors and visitors.
We are truly honored to have you here in Namibia for this important
event.
It is wonderful to have so many riders, supporters, teams, officials,
volunteers, family and friends joining us in this dry arid western area
of our beautiful country.
You have made all the hard work and preparation worthwhile!
There is something unique about equestrian sports. The relationship
between the horse and the athlete is special and decisive for
success.
Being a horse person, groom, official, supporter and as a parent, I
have seen and experienced myself, the vital effect the horses have
on humans in general.
We will see some of the world’s best riders and some of the world’s
best horses test their skills in endurance riding, and we will have the
thrill of watching them in this magnificent environment, in the heart of
the Namibian Dessert.
The special bond between horse and rider taps into a timeless
universal connection that spans borders, genders and cultures.
I wish you all a pleasant stay in Namibia, and the best of luck in the
competition ahead.
May the best team win but lets never forget, “To Finish is to Win”
Dieter Neumann
Acting President
Namibia Endurance Ride Association
International Endurance Ride Championships 2018
A warm and hearty welcome to Walvis Bay 2018.
A bucket list item!
To organize Walvis Bay is a mammoth task, from planning the functions to
setting out the routes however in comparison to the ride itself, it is but a small
challenge.
We are thankful to have so many riders attend our prestigious ride and even
more thankful to have so many world class horses at Walvis to face the
ultimate challenge.
We hope you have all travelled safely and settled in comfortably. It is
wonderful to see so many familiar faces and to meet so many new horse
loving friends. A week before Walvis Bay we think never again, what were
we thinking – a week after Walvis Bay we can’t wait for the next one.
We trust that Walvis Bay 2018 will be a memorable ride for all the right
reasons and that no matter what we will remain true sportsmen/women and
treat our horses with love and respect.
To complete 120km successfully at Walvis Bay does not come easily, it takes
hours of practice and dedication and for this we thank you. There is no
Walvis Bay without you.
Thank you to all the members of the organizing committee for all your hard
work and the many hours that you put into making 2018 a year to
remember.
A horse doesn't care how much you know until he knows how much
you care. Put your hand on your horse and your heart in your
hand." – Pat Parelli
Wishing you all an enjoyable ride
Regards
Marna
