Planning day
The Management Committee and several other members had a great planning day which involved a good deal of reviewing of what we do and where we are going. I would like to thank everyone who came on the day for their input but also all of our members that completed the survey. Judy Waugh, as our secretary, did a lot of work on both the planning day and the survey. Thanks Judy and well done.
The number of people that filled out the survey was impressive. Thank you to all our members and supporters who completed our survey. Your input has been invaluable in helping us improve our services and work on a new strategic plan for the next five years. We read every comment and will be following up on some suggestions as soon as possible. We gained a good look at how you all feel about us and the centre in general. Overall most people are happy with the service that we are providing but there are some aspects that we can improve on and we are looking into those. We are a community art association with many restrictions placed on us because of the fact of where we are housed – the house is a heritage building. MCAA is an independent organisation, created to run the Atwell site and we fund ourselves. But in saying all of that there are things that we can do and we will work through those.
We are always open to new ideas and suggestions so if you
didn’t get a chance to complete the survey, please feel free to send comments to the executive committee: President: Stephanie Carne [email protected] Vic President: Brigitta Nowland [email protected] Secretary: Judy Waugh [email protected] Treasurer: Sandra Robertson [email protected] Thank you
Stephanie, President

The potters have been busy, as usual, this month. One of our members, Narayani Palmer, has had success in exhibiting in the York Botanic Art Prize with the sale of her entry in the first week of the exhibition. The exhibition is at Gallery 152 in York and it continues until January 3 with a wide array of artworks on botanical themes.
Meanwhile on the home front, a large group of members gathered to create porcelain Christmas decorations. A huge variety of Christmas themed cookie cutters were used to produce stars, trees and angels galore. Once decorated and fired the ornaments will be offered for sale at the Atwell Christmas Bazaar, so look out for them - they are very collectable and will easily become heirloom items.
The new ceramics studio facility at Atwell is steadily becoming a reality with the City of Melville having appointed the architects and a timeline for the project indicates that construction could begin in the first half of 2021 - stay tuned!
Anyone interested in joining the South of the River
Potters’ Club is welcome to drop in on a
Wednesday morning and chat to one of the
members. in Room 2/3 at Atwell House. You might
also find them hard at work in the ‘green shed’

The WA Government
now has a “controlled border” instead of a “hard closed border” so we all need to stay
vigilant
We’re still socially distancing (staying
1.5 metres apart) and sanitizing on entry, no hugs or handshakes, being responsible for our cleaning our own
workspaces and, although we love to
see you, please don’t come to Atwell
if you feel unwell.

SUNDAY Life Drawing & Painting
every Sunday 9am—12noon
No tuition but we arrange the models.
$21 per session (discounted to $16 for MCAA members)
We need a few more artists each Sunday morning to keep going as usual with 2 models, we’ve had to send one model home on two occasions this past month as there were not enough artists to pay for two.
Shaun has had some difficulty in finding models lately, contact Atwell if you’d would like to model on a Sunday.
Sunday Life will open throughout the Atwell Xmas closure time - 27/12/20, 3 January 2021.
See you Sunday, Graham.
Memberships can be renewed on Sunday mornings and new members are welcome to join too. Please arrive before 9am to allow time for setting up— bring own materials etc. For more information about Sundays,

GalleryShop
Have you checked out the shop next to the Office recently?
Quite often we hear people say that
they didn’t even realise we had a shop at Atwell!
During the Xmas Bazaar we suggest you
put your shop items into the Gallery for
more exposure
ATWELL HOUSE HALLWAY GALLERY
We like to make the front hall of the house look inviting and arty so are once again calling for interested painters/drawers/printmakers etc to put their names on a new list in the Office.
No hanging fee, 25% Commission on sales.
Please be aware that this area is not under constant supervision and it does get pretty windy through there so works are placed there at your own risk. But many people do pass through this area and will see your work! New and experienced artists are welcome. This can be a good way to start exhibiting if you have not
done so before.
Works need to be small to medium in size, preferably on canvas with a secure hanging cord. Label back and front stating artist, title, medium and price. And provide
