The Office staff were dedicated to getting notes and correspondence out in a timely manner, often taking tasks home to complete. The teaching staff and support staff were amazing. I cannot put the compliments to my staff any better than in the words of a grateful parent who said “Please give a big shout out to your staff. Everywhere I looked they were helping on Stalls, running stalls, working with the children or having coloured flour thrown at them”. Thank you Hornsby North staff. It was wonderful to have our local Federal Member, Mr Julian Leeser, open the Fair. ATHLETICS CARNIVAL - It has been a busy time for the Athletics Program at HNPS! Last Wednesday the 2019 Track Events were held at a very windy Foxglove Oval! Fantastic performances were recorded in the 100m, 200m and 800m events! The early start ensured plenty of time for students to compete in multi events. Mr Lawrence was extremely pleased with the levels of participation and performance! Most pleasing was the support and encouragement shown between students. Thank you staff and parents for making the day an outstanding success! A full list of Zone qualifying results will be available soon. Please contact Mr Lawrence if you would like additional information. All of our students were fantastic!

BIGGEST MORNING TEA - Thank you to Mrs Jeffrey who is again organizing the annual Hornsby North Public School Biggest Morning Tea, to be held on Thursday, 20 June. Morning tea will be served in the Library from 10.55am. Please come along, bring a friend, have a cuppa and help support a worthy cause. Our giant raffle will be drawn on that day. Raffle tickets will be on sale before school from next Tuesday, 11 June until Thursday, 20 June at the Ida Street, Cawthorne Street and Old Berowra Road entrances to the school. Tickets will be $1.00 each or 3 for $2.00. Everyone welcome! Looking forward to seeing you there.

HORNSBY NORTH COMMUNITY FAIR - It was a wonderful day and the hopes and aspirations of the entire school community were certainly realized. Traditionally, Hornsby North Public School Community has been one where parental involvement and participation have worked harmoniously with the school in true partnership and with respect for individual roles. Sunday was a perfect example of this. Congratulations to the organisers, in particular to Janelle McIntosh and her team. I will not mention individual team members, as I am sure Janelle will in her P&C Newsletter which will be published next week. However, I do know that so many people volunteered on the day. So many people worked tirelessly behind the scenes and with the set up and the clearing away at the end of the day.

The Fair has been an integral part of the School Community for a number of years and I acknowledge the hard work that has gone before this year’s Fair. The hard work of previous P&C members and their teams including Alexi Boyd and Lynne Slevin, laid the foundations for such a strong, successful event. So pleased we are able to build on the work of previous years. However, I must acknowledge the outstanding commitment and participation of the Hornsby North staff.

occupations and places such as at the Fire Station, Police Station, Supermarket and Hospital. The work was related to their Geography unit of work. We very much look forward to visiting the Communities that Year 1 are building later on this term. The students were thoroughly engaged all day and the staff at Wannabees were most impressed with their good manners and behaviour as well as their reading and general knowledge! Well done Year 1, Julie Hall. SCIENCE NEWS - Today for World Environment Day the children, during Science lessons, have been discussing how caring for the planet is vital to our survival. They have been learning about how air pollution can negatively affect children and what we are doing to help our planet. Thank you, Karen Fitzsimons. WOOLWORTHS “EARN & LEARN” - Thank you to everyone who has been collecting the stickers. There are collection boxes for the completed sheets in the front Office foyer and in the Library foyer. The competition runs until Tuesday, 25 June. Debbie Bell and Georgia Barnes. PSSA BOYS FOOTBALL - Match Day 7 of the PSSA Boys Football Competition was played against Turramurra North P.S. at Samuel King Oval last Friday. The Junior team were again outstanding, winning 18-0 and the Senior boys were also very convincing winners 10‐1! The Player Points were awarded to Jack B. and Mathias A. Congratulations! At the beginning of this season, the objective for all teams is to develop, through skills acquisition, a positive, proactive style of football. Playing style, not results, will be the focus. Last week we set the challenge of taking less touches on the ball. The Junior boys were restricted to a 'three touch' rule to encourage passing and movement. I was very pleased to hear so many positive comments from parents and
