GENERAL ADMINISTRATIVE THEORY

MAX WEBER Developed a theory of authority based on an ideal type

of organization (bureaucracy) Emphasized rationality, predictability, impersonality,

technical competence, and authoritarianism.

Henri Fayol Believed that the practice of management was distinct

from other organizational functions Developed fourteen principles of management that

applied to all organizational situations

QUANTITATIVE APPROACH Also called operations research or management science

Evolved from mathematical and statistical methods developed to solve WWII military logistics and quality control problems

Focuses on improving managerial decision making by applying:

• Statistics, optimization models, information models, and computer simulations

ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR The study of the actions of people at work; people are the most important asset of an organization

Page 10: Honda Presentation.pptx [Autosaved]2

The Systems Approach

• System Defined– A set of interrelated and interdependent parts arranged in a manner that produces a unified whole.

• Basic Types of Systems– Closed systems– Open systems

Page 11: Honda Presentation.pptx [Autosaved]2

The Contingency Approach

– Also sometimes called the situational approach.

– There is no one universally applicable set of management principles (rules) by which to manage organizations.

– Organizations are individually different, face different situations (contingency variables), and require different ways of managing.

CONCLUSIONACCORDING TO OUR RESEARCH & SURVEY WE SUGGEST THAT IN PAKISTAN THE EMPLOYEES ARE MORE “SOCIAL MAN” BECAUSE THEIR MAIN PRIORITY IS RESPECT STATUS AND MONEY THEREFORE SCIENTIFIC MANAGEMENT FULFILLS THEIR DESIRES AS A RESULT COMPANY GETS MORE BENEFIT AND EMPLOYEES GET WHAT THEY WANT

SCIENTIFIC MANAGEMENT BECAME A POWERFUL FORCE AS IT CONTRIBUTED TO INCREASED EFFICIENCY IN INDUSTRIAL ESTABLISHMENTS

HONDA SHOWS THE EVIDENCE OF APPLYING THE PRINCIPLES OF SCIENTIFIC MANAGEMENT. THEY INSTITUTE BONUS SYSTEMS TO ENCOURAGE THE EMPLOYEES TO PERFORM WELL TO MEET THE GOALS. ALSO, THEY TRAIN THE WORKERS SCIENTIFICALLY RATHER THAN PASSIVELY LEAVING THEM TO TRAIN THEMSELVES. IT AIMS TO BRING EVERYONE’S PRODUCTION EFFICIENCY INTO FULL PLAY TO ACCOMPLISH MAXIMUM PROFIT
