National Health Programmes
National Leprosy eradication programme (NLEP)- In operation since
1955.
National TB Control programme (NTCB)- The control of this disease has
become difficult due to emergence of drug resistance cases.
National Anti Malaria programme (NAMP)- Malaria has been a seriousissue of concern.
National Programme for Control of Blindness (NPCB)- The objective of
this programme is to reduce the incidence of blindness to 0.7% from the
estimated present level of 1.35.
National AIDS Control Programme- AIDS ( Acquired Immuno DeficiencySyndrome) has emerged as a serious public health emergency. The
government has tried to ensure blood safety in blood banks; introduced
AIDS education in schools; set up various AIDS related NGOs.
