Haggai 2:4 - 9

Vs4 Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith the

LORD; and be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech,

the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the

land, saith the LORD, and work: for I am with

you, saith the LORD of hosts:

Vs5 According to the word that I covenanted

with you when ye came out of Egypt, so my spirit

remaineth among you: fear ye not.

Haggai 2:4 - 9

Vs6 For thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once,

it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens,

and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land;

Vs7 And I will shake all nations, and the desire

of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house

with glory, saith the LORD of hosts.

Vs8 The silver is mine, and the gold is mine,

saith the LORD of hosts.

Vs9 The glory of this latter house shall be greater

than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts: and

in this place will I give peace, saith the LORD of

hosts.

Bears and leads by hand as a father

From Belly to old age; until death and receive

… According to the word that I covenanted with

you when ye came out of Egypt,

When ye came out of Egypt??

At Sinai it was a conditional covenant. But to

Abraham it was an unconditional promise.

The forgiveness for transgression was based on

the covenant made with Abraham.

The strength of our enemies are always a cause

for discouragement.

Ezr 4:23 Enemy came and made them to stop

the work by force and power.

They were only a small force and how could

they stand against the enemy.

1Sam 14:6 And Jonathan said to the young man that bare his armour, Come, and let us go over unto the garrison of these uncircumcised: it may be that the LORD will work for us: for there is no restraint to the LORD to save by many or by few.

Judges 7 Gideon - A multitude of Midian army like grasshoppers and multitude of camels surrounding them.

Gideon had 22,000 men, then 10,000

God reduces to just 300.

It is His strength on which we need to rely on

and not our own.

Jud 7:2 ….. lest Israel vaunt themselves against

me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me.

Josh 7 Battle with Ai – they first went with 3000

Lost due to sin yet went again with 35000 men

Hezekiah to his people on Sennacherib threat.

2Ch 32:7 Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that is with him: for there be more with us than with him:

V8 With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the LORD our God to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.

Mt 28:18 All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

If he has to shake, he will! the heaven, earth, land and sea and the nations.

Ac 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be ..

1Jn 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts.

Why the reference to gold and silver?

Are you discouraged that earlier temple had so much of the gold & silver & you have little.

If that’s all I wanted then I can fill this place because God says silver is mine & gold is mine.

4. His Unending (Abounding) Provision – Vs 8

Job 41:11 Who hath prevented me, that I should repay him? whatsoever is under the whole heaven is mine.

Ps 50:10-12 For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills.

11 I know all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field are mine.

12 If I were hungry, I would not tell thee: for the world is mine, and the fulness thereof.

But that’s not what the Lord wants.

The Lord would not ask you to build His house

without providing the provisions to build.

He is not a taskmaster like Pharaoh of old.

He said go up the mount and bring wood and

build.

His provisions were ready and plenty;

Where did the provisions come for the

tabernacle which Moses built?

When they built the provisions were ready

Where did the materials come from or the

temple which Solomon built?

When Solomon began the provisions were

already made ready by David. 1Chro 22

His provision are abundant

Ex 36:6 And Moses gave commandment,

and they caused it to be proclaimed

throughout the camp, saying, Let neither man

nor woman make any more work for the

offering of the sanctuary. So the people were

restrained from bringing.

Be not anxious even of what you shall speak, when they will question you

He said all that is required will be provided at the appropriate time.

It is not just silver and gold but far more precious.

Ac 1:8 8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me ….

2Tim 2:1 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in

the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto

the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy,

and find grace to help in time of need.

In Eph 1:7 & 2:7 – “Riches of his grace” &

“exceeding riches of his grace”

His Provisions are abounding & overflowing.

abound toward you; that ye, always having

Encouragement

God expect us to build His house.

In this age he wants us to built his house with no less than silver and gold.

He expects the inward glory of the church to exceed the outward glory of the temple of old.

He supplies all the provisions and expects us to convert them into gold, silver and precious stones. 1Cor 3:12

Let everyman take heed how he builds
