CROSS LINKED POLYETHYLENE (XLPE)XLPE means cross-linked polyethylene or vulcanized polyethylene. The basic material is low density polyethylene. Polyethylene is a thermoplastic material consisting of long chain of hydrocarbon molecules. At elevated temperatures these molecules tend to move relative to one another so that the material becomes increasingly deformable and will eventually melt at the temperature around 110°C.
By means of process similar to the vulcanization of rubber the polyethylene molecules can be cross-linked. The process of cross-linking or vulcanization consists of producing chemical bonds at interval between the long molecular chain to give a “ladder” effect which prevents slippage between molecules as a result of cross-linking the material becomes heat resistant and does not soften at higher temperatures. Further it has better resistance to stress cracking and good resistance to ageing in hot air. Wit the change of structure there is no adverse effect on electrical properties.
Advantage of “GRID CABLES” XLPE Cables
n Dielectric losses are very small.
n Higher current carrying capacity.
n Higher short circuit rating 250°C as against 160°C for PVC.
n “GRID CABLES” XLPE can retain flexibility down upto - 40°C
n Jointing and Termination is easy.
n Light in weight
n They are not prone to fatigue damages due to vibrations or loading cycles.
n Has better resistance to most chemicals, oils, acids, etc.
n Can be installed along cable routes without elevation limitations.

Aerial Bunched Cables
An ISO: 9001-2008 Certified Company
www.gridcables.com
FeaturesGRID make Aerial Bunched Cables (ABC) is a novel concept for overhead power distribution system.
GRID make Aerial Bunched Cable are designed, manufactured and tested conforming to IS:14255, IS :7098(Pt-I) and other international specifications like IEC, NFC etc.
ApplicationsABC can conveniently be used :-
a) In theft prone areasb) As replacement of bare conductors in rural areas, in forest and in other localities like narrow street
where the space is limitedc) As replacement of bare conducts where reliability of supply is of prime importanced) As replacement of bare lines where high degree of stability of supply voltage is of importance.e) As hilly terrains where cost of erection of overhead lines or under ground cable becomes very high.f) As reinforcement of existing system without increasing voltage.g) For temporary suppliesh) Reduces burning of transformers and maintenance
AdvantagesIn comparison to bare overhead distribution lines, AB cables have very high reliability during the services. As the power and neutral conductors are insulated with the best dielectric material, resulting in the following advantages :
1. Less fault rate on account of good protection against line and ground fault by high winds or falling trees or birds especially in hilly areas and forests as encountered in rural distribution networks.
2. High insulation resistance to earth in al polluted atmosphere. Negligible currents and low losses.3. Multiple circuits of power and telephone cables could be strung in the same set of poles or any other
supports like walls etc.4. Better adaptability to run concurrently with existing over-head bare conductor system without any
interference. 5. High capacitance and low inductance leading to low impedance of lines.6. Lower voltage drop, higher current carrying capacities, vis-à-vis better voltage regulation.7. Longer spans and longer distance lines are possible with better systems stability.8. AB cables are much safer then bare conductors.9. It can be overhung in dense vegetation and forests.10. Additional connections can be easily and quickly made with hot-line connectors.11. Total lines costs are deduced. 12. Maintenance costs are reduced.13. Very difficult to tap the AB cables, thus reducing theft which leads to lower distribution loses.

GRID INDIA POWER CABLES PVT. LTD. Manufactures a wide variety of cables suitable for process instrumentation. In the projects related to power generation and distribution, chemical and fertilizer industries and various other types of engineering industries, the process instrumentation plays a vita role in measurement, supervision ad control of the process. Introduction of microprocessor based / computerized instrumentation has demanded stringent quality requirements alongwith special electrical parameters for instrumentation cables. Very low level electrical signals pass between measuring end and display units / controllers which are situated far off. These low level signals are prone to external noise pickups and heavy silenuation during transmission.
All this means that the cables to be used for instrumentation should be designed and manufactured very carefully, GRID CABLES with its meticulous efforts in maintaining quality, stringent in process control during manufacture and the knowledge of cable designing, is proud to say that it is capable of supplying instrumentation cables meeting any Indian / International standard or a specific requirement desired by project authority. The efforts done by GRID CABLES are reqarded by acceptance of our quality by the country's prime organizations.

Range of Thermo-couple extension / compensation cables
COLOUR CODES as per various Standard Specifications
These cables can also be termed as instrumentation cables, since they are used for process temperature measurement. The construction is similar to pair instrumentation cable but the conductor material is different. Thermocouples are used in processes to sense temperature and is connected to the pyrometers for indication and control. The thermocouple and pyrometer are electrically conducted by thermocouple extension / compensating cables. The conductors used for these cables are required to have similar thermo-electric (emf) properties as that of the thermocouple used for sensing the temperature. The cables are manufactured as per IS:8784, ANSI-MC 96, 1, B.S., ENI, DIN and customers specification.

1. Corrosion resistance : AAAC exhibits excellent corrosion resistance especially in sea coast areas and in polluted industrial areas due to Absence of steel core
2. Lower power losses : since AAC is homogeneous (with all strands of Aluminium Alloy) with no steel component, the resistance of AAAC is lower as compared to that of ACSR.
3. Higher ampacity :AAAC can carry atleast 15-20% extra current as compared to ACSR of equal size.4. Longer life : Experience in foreign countries shows that all Aluminium Alloy Conductors are in service for over 60 years, which is
about double the life of ACSR conductors.5. Surface hardness : The surface hardness of AAAC is 80 BHN as compared to 35BHN of ACSR. This reduces damage to surface
during handling and therefore leading to lesser corona losses and radio interference at EHV.6. Thermal stability : AAA Conductors are stable upto 90°C against ACSR conductors which are stable upto 75°C.7. Higher strength to weight ratio : Since AAAC has higher strength to weight ratio, span car be increased from 2 to 15% resulting in
Overall reduction of cost in tower / supports and other accessories in transmission lines system.

REC Specification No. 33/1984.
Note: (1) kN = 100,000,000 dyne = 102 kgNote: The standard length of the conductor manufactured as per specific requirement of the customer and being supplied in non-returnable wooden drums or steel drum, quite strong, to withstand any kind of transit handlings in the erection field.
On receipt of the cable drums visual inspection of drums should be made. White unloading the drums from the lorry / trailer, a crane or suitable derrick system with chain pully arrangement should be used and the drums carefully lifted and deposited on the ground. When lifting the drums with the crane, it is recommended the lagging should be kept in place to prevent the flanges from crushing on to the cable. If the crane is not available, a ramp should be prepared with approximate inclination of 1:3 or 1:4. The cable drum should be rolled over the ramp by means of ropes and winches. Under no circumstances should the drums be dropped to the ground as the shock may cause serious damage to the inner layer of the cables.
Cables should not be dragged along the earth surface.
Cable ends should always be sealed by means of suitable end sealing material to prevent miniaturization of cores and armour.
Drums should be rolled in direction of arrow marked on the drums.
Storage
The site chosen for the storage of cable drums should be dry and covered place to prevent exposure to climatic conditions and wear and tear of wooden drums and it should be preferably on a concrete / consolidated surface which will not cause the drums to sink and thus lead to flange rot and extremely difficult in moving the drums.
The drums should be stored in such a manner as to leave sufficient space between them for air circulation. It is desirable for the drums to stand on battens placed directly under the flanges.
In no case shall the drums be stored flag i.e. with flanges horizontal.
Minimum permissible bending radius
While installing the cables, the following minimum bending raidus should be observed in order so that the cable, especially insulation, may not undergo damage. Wherever possible larger bending radium should be used.
