General Application
2
Students will complete the online General Application each semester to be considered for
awards, scholarships or bursaries offered at Conestoga for which they meet the criteria.

Conestoga offers awards, scholarships and bursaries each year thanks to our donors
who wish to support Conestoga students. To ensure students are considered for all
awards, scholarships and bursaries for which they qualify, Student Financial Services
has created the General Application to capture all the information required to select
recipients.

Click on My Award Applications *
*Already completed the General Application? See page 4 for further instructions

Completed the General Application in a Previous Semester?
If you have completed a previous version of the application, when you select the current
period, example Fall 2015, at the bottom of the screen you will notice a button Get Copy
Click on Get Copy to populate the current application. A notice box will ap-
pear “Current Scholarship Awards Application will be overwritten, do you
want to proceed?” Select Confirm Get Copy.
Once you have a copy, make any necessary changes or adjustments to each
page, Save then Submit.

College Involvement
Community and College involvement is a key criteria for a number of donor-funded awards,
scholarships and bursaries. Please provide detailed information for each of the categories in
this area. If you are being considered for an award based on your community and college
involvement, Student Financial Services will contact you if they require further details.

Athletics— Are you participating in athletics? Are you on an intramural team? Which team?
Student Life— Do you volunteer or work at Student Life? Are you a Respect Rep? Are you an
English Conversation Partner? Are you on the Women’s Day Committee?
Co-Curricular (Leadership Workshops, Experience Entrepreneurship)—Have you attended any
Leadership Workshops or Experience Entrepreneurship workshops? Did you participate in the
CSI Leadership Development Program? Are you a CSI Leadership Ambassador? If you are
interested in finding out more, log in to myConestoga and click on the CCR record.
Orientation Leader —Are you an Orientation Leader with Student Life?
Student Club — Do you belong to a student club? Have you organized a student club? Which

Permanent Disability
In light of your disability, please describe how an award will help you overcome the ob-
stacles you face to achieve your educational goals, (8000 characters including spaces).
Specific examples would be hiring a tutor or extending educational timeline to accom-
modate for your challenges. Once you complete the essay select Save.
First Generation
Please provide an essay equal to one typed page outlining your experience of being part
of the first generation in your family to participate in post-secondary studies and the
challenges you’ve encountered. Once you complete the essay select Save. Please note
you need to read and agree to the statement on the First Generation Consent tab and
Save to be considered for the First Generation Bursary and checked the Ontario
Resident box on the Personal Info tab.
Goals
Outline your career goals, passion and commitment to
your field of study. Questions you may consider answering:
what is your dream job; in what field; which service area
(public/private/non-profit); are you seeking employment
or entrepreneurship; will you be continuing your
education; etc. Once you complete the essay select Save.

Financial Need
Outline the obstacles, financial or otherwise, that you have overcome or continue to face in
pursuit of your post-secondary education. Tell us why you should receive an award, bursary
or scholarship and how one would assist with your educational goals. Once you have com-
plete the essay select Save.
Budget
If you are receiving OSAP you do not need to complete the Budget. If you applied, but did
not receive OSAP, or you have a financial need, you will need to complete the Budget and
Financial Need tab.

Budget
Expenses A-I
The expense portion of the Study Period
Budget is based on your estimated expenses
in each category for a month, example,
paying $550 rent per month in rent? Type in
550. If you pay $100 in utilities, type in 100.
Study Period Months K
The Study Period Months is the number of
months during the current academic year
(2015-2016) you are in school. Studying
from September to April = 8 months, Jan—
April = 4 months, September—August = 12
months.
Other Expenses M-Q
Add in your additional expenses such as
tuition, books, medical expenses and other
related expenses to obtain Total Study
Period Expenses.
Once you have completed your expenses
select Save.

Budget
Resources 1-13
The Resources portion of the Study Period
Budget is based on your estimated resources in
each category for the academic year, example:
Employment Income— if you earn $500 a
month from part time employment while in
school for 8 months, then type in 4,000 for this
budget item.
Spousal Contribution—if you are married or
common-law, include your spouse’s income.
Parental Contribution—amount of support pro-
vided by your parents i.e. pay for tuition, books,
rent, etc.
Other Resources—include Student line of credit
available and RESPs
Add in all applicable resources to obtain your
Total Resources for the Study Period as well as
determining your Total Need.
Once you have completed your resources
select Save.

Submitting the Application
Once you have completed and saved each of the required tabs in your application a Submit
button will appear
Select Submit — Please note "Submit" will not appear if a section has not been completed.
For example, if you have a financial need and did not apply for OSAP, you must complete the
Budget or Financial Need essay tab to be able to submit your application.
Changes to your application can be made up until the deadline date—make sure to Save and
Submit once you have finished
You will be asked to Confirm Submit — A notice box will appear stating “By submitting this
application I certify that all information contained on this form is true and correct to the best of
my knowledge. If I am selected for an award, I grant Conestoga permission to publish my
name in the Convocation Guide. I agree to provide receipts or documentations for expenses if
requested.” Select Confirm Submit if you agree to the outlined terms.
A confirmation email will be sent to your Conestoga email account.
Notes:
Certain awards require additional submissions –
including an essay, resume, reference letters,
etc. You will be notified via your Conestoga
email account regarding these awards, bursa-
ries and scholarships.
We may request proof for specific expenses or
resources claimed on your Study Period
Budget.
Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Check your Conestoga Email Account regularly
for updates and additional awards available
from [email protected].
