Born in Oberweissbach, in Thuringia, in April,

1782 He was neglected in his youth His father was a pastor but only had little time

to take care of him, his mother passed away when he was very young.

Froebel's thoughts: "Children are like tiny flowers; they are varied and need care, but each is beautiful alone and glorious when seen in the community of peers."
