IntroductionIntroduction• Balochistan is the province which is facing a
great and vital problem i.e. “Refugees”a. From Afghanistan (International).b. From Iran (International).c. Punjab, Sindh & NWFP-Domestic pressure
of population and migration from other provinces in search of Job opportunities.
• Similarly the province was severely affected by long spell of drought (about 8 years). Which resulted the failure stories in the field of Agriculture and Livestock sectors.a. Almost 58% Agriculture sector was affected (Economic survey of Pakistan 2007).b. 73% Livestock sector was affected (Economic
survey of Pakistan 2007).
• Quetta is the city which was planned only for 50,000 Population. Now, the limit is crossed (approximately more then 2 Million)
• At the same time the population of the province was increased with an alarming ratio.
• To feed this huge population of the province along with the extra burden of the “Refugees” it is impossible to do so.
• Therefore more efforts are needed to be planed.
Family Size • The typical Pastoon & Baloch Culture never
allow them to keep the family size very limited or smaller.
• Ultimately, the average family size would be more then 7 or 8 person per family.
Why Food Crises in Balochistan(Agriculture & Livestock Sector)
Low productivity per unit area.Low yielding varieties of Crops + Fruits.Limited information about latest and
innovative Agriculture and Livestock.Lack of proper breeds of Livestock (Meat + Milk).
Why Food Crises in Balochistan
• Regular availability of Electricity for Agriculture ?
• Rise-up in fuel prices - which is a major need for Agriculture
• None utilization of Solar and wind power.
HOPE FOR BRIGHT FUTURE

areas in the province.
