2014 Charge ConferenceSunday, November 9 • Everyone invited!

In the midst of our plenty, we will also be taking up a Thanksgiving offering for Imagine No Malaria.

Established in 2008, the Imagine No Malaria campaign seeks to end malaria in Africa through education, communication and treatment. This preventable and treatable disease, transmitted through the bite of a mosquito, claims 655,000 lives each year. In other words, every 60 seconds, a child in Africa dies of malaria. The generosity of United Methodists is making a difference! Malaria’s death rate is nearly half of what it was in 2006.

The Memphis Conference in partnership with the Tennessee Conference is working toward raising $1 million.

During the 2014 Annual Conference in Paducah, KY, June 1-4, Bishop McAlilly raised further awareness of this campaign encouraging churches to strive toward a goal of $1,000.

In this season of thankfulness, please pray for the “extraordinary ministry of the people of The United Methodist Church as we put our faith into action to end preventable deaths by malaria in Africa.”

Jackson FUMC will be hosting other United Methodist churches in the Jackson District. • Starting at 3 p.m., there will be a “Mission Fair” of what each church has been doing this year which will take place in Newman Center (lower level). • At 3 p.m., all FUMC members are invited to our Charge Conference.• At 4 p.m. all churches will worship together in Clayton Hall with District Superintendent, Richard Clark preaching. THANKSGIVING… MAKING A DIFFERENCE Jackson FUMC will host

a traditional Thanksgiving meal Wednesday, November 19

5:00-6:30 p.m. in Clayton HallIt will be a feast for all complete with roast turkey, dressing, all the trimmings and desserts! The cost will be $10 adults, $6 children with a family maximum of $32. Children’s Choirs will be singing and we’ll all “gather together” to sing Thanksgiving hymns and enjoy a light fun evening.

Taylor Parimore became a member of FUMC on Sunday, October 26. She transferred her membership from another United Methodist church. Taylor is the Director of Student Ministries at Jackson FUMC.

My name is Jake Koehler. I attend Trinity Christian Academy and love school. My favorite subject is art. I also enjoy sports, computer games, and being with my friends. I am twelve years old and enjoy going to church.

I am Ella Shelton. I have a brother named Barrett and a mom named Heather and a dad named Matt. I have a dog named Rocky. I go to University School of Jackson and am in the sixth grade. I enjoy playing tennis and basketball. I like to hang out with my friends.

FUMC church family, I want to thank you all for attending the Fish Fry/Fall Festival. It was a huge success. Many thanks to the church staff, men’s group for the fish fry, to those who baked cakes, decorated cars and handed out candy for Trunk or Treat, the Security team and all the youth who helped make this event happen! Many people put so much hard work into helping make this Festival be the best it could be and I am so grateful. Special thanks to Nick Nelson, Jeff Rudy, Dan Camp, Dave Bratcher, and Brian Taylor for their willingness to get pretty sticky for the youth. I look forward to planning this event for the next fall!
