Introduction
The ‘Cross-curricular Teaching Units for the German Classroom’ are developed by the GOETHE-INSTITUT GLASGOW as part of the Partnerschool Initiative ‘Schulen: Partner der Zukunft’. They represent an attempt to adapt the concept of CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) into a viable and realistic cross-curricular opportunity for the teaching of Modern Languages in Scottish schools.
Content focused language learning and collaboration across the curriculum are one means to put language learning into an authentic and relevant context. It encourages students to make links, to apply prior knowledge, to explore intercultural dimensions and to develop and use language of, for and through learning.
This particular unit links learning outcomes of the German and Home Economic curriculum.

Alle lieben die Currywurst. Jung und finden sie lecker. Auf den ersten Blick ist eine
Currywurst eine ganz normale . Aber sie wird anders in kleine Stücke
geschnitten, mit Ketchup übergossen und mit bestreut. Eine wahre Delikatesse!
Oft wird Currywurst zusammen mit serviert. 70 Millionen Currywürste werden
jedes allein in Berlin gegessen. Seit 2006 gibt es sogar das Deutsche Currywurst-
