Exchange Fellowship
This week it seems like we have a lot people we need to pray for:
• Exchangite Gail Johnson started outpatient rehab this week after recent surgery for a broken hip. Also Gail's mother, Edna McGill, was admitted to Redmond Hospital suffering from pneumonia which is complicated by her dementia. Please remember Gail in your thoughts and prayers as she handles both her own rehab and cares for her mother .
• Exchangite Diane Warner's brother, Jerry Russell, who has undergone surgery, chemo, and radiation is now being placed in Hospice care and will go into a local nursing facility. Too many complications to continue treatments. Please continue to support Diane during this time.
• Exchangite Dan Caesar's 9 year old great nephew, Micah Winkle is undergoing another round of chemo treatment at St. Jude's for bone cancer.
• Sherry Loyd, wife of Exchangite Jim Loyd is having severe kidney problems.
• Mary Louise Dixon, wife of Exchangite Richard Dixon, Exchangite Ray Dempsey, Terri Scott wife of Exchangite Dan Scott, all undergoing treatment for cancer.

Jim Bishop Memorial Golf Tournament
It was a BEAUTIFUL day for golf and a total of 15 teams were able to attend (18 teams were sold; 3 were unable to attend on our rain date). WOW Café provided lunch (do thank Chuck with a visit to his place and a thank you). Ben Levy arranged some great prizes and raffle items. We are still gathering receipts but it appears that we will net over $10,000. A big shout out to Exchangite Ben Levy for his outstanding leadership as Chair and another shout out to our great Exchange volunteers who braved chilly winds (and sunny skies) to help prevent child abuse!

At our last meeting.....
LtCol Mike Washington, USAF (Ret) is the Senior Aerospace Science Instructor of the AFJROTC Unit at Rome High School. He brought six Cadets with him and, after a brief introduction by LtCol Washington, the Cadets gave a powerpoint presentation covering many of their activities. The AFJROTC Unit currently has 118 members and is divided into 6 Flights. Cadets lead the Unit and Flights, under the supervision of LtCol Washington
and MSgt Keith Thrash, thus developing leadership skills. Among other activities, the Unit has a color guard, drill teams, a CyberPatriot team, an academic honors club, and other clubs and activities to encourage personal development, good citizenship, and leadership skills. The Rome CyberPatriot team took first place in the Georgia Competition. The Cadets have performed well over 1,000 hours of community service this school years. Part of this community service

was running the Toys for Tots Distribution Day, in which 52 Cadets took part.
The purpose of the JROTC programs is to promote citizenship and self-discipline in high school students, not to try and recruit them for the armed forces. The Department of Defense pays 50% of the cost of both LtCol Washington and MSgt Thrash, making the AFJROTC unit a real bargain for the citizens of the Rome area.

If you found the child abuse prevention panel recently hosted at Exchange of interest, you may want to attend a special meeting on May 22nd at 1:00 p.m. at the Forum.
Christopher Church from the University of South Carolina Law School Children's Law Center will present intensive data about Floyd County and Rome as it relates to Dependency and Delinquency and all of the factors that go into the same. Meal Policy Of The Exchange Club Of Rome Members are encouraged to bring prospective member guests to all regular meetings. The club is most happy to pay for the meals of prospects the first three times they visit, more then that you are required to pay for your guest's meal unless they have submitted an application for membership, in which case the meals will remain at no charge. If you bring a non-prospect guest, someone to just join you for lunch, or if you take out a lunch for anyone that is not a member, you are required to pay for your guest's or takeout meal. For The
Georgia District
Convention To Work For Bryan And Mike
Our President Bryan Shealy has filed papers with the Georgia District of Exchange Clubs to run for the office of
District Treasurer. There will be no incumbent running but it appears there will be a contested race so our club will need as many as possible to be in Augusta to support Bryan in his candidacy and bring the win to Bryan. Bryan's run for Treasurer will open the seat for District Director of Division One on the District Board. Our own Mike Elliott has thrown his hat in for that job so we need to be there to vote for our two members. The convention festivities begin on Thursday at noon for the golfers, and Thursday night for the free welcome party. Friday and Saturday will be filled with business meetings and great educational seminars. The election will be held on Saturday morning.
