How did you attract/address your audience?

Page 2: Evaluation q5

To attract/address the audience for my music magazine cover I included many features such as:

I have used a red, black, and white/grey colour scheme to make it stand out, as it is contrasting and vibrant. I chose this colour scheme as a personal preference but I also found in my audience research questionnaire that it was favoured by the participates. Plus it is not gender biased (e.g. use of pink would be more feminine), which ensures that the magazine attracts and addresses my target audience (males and females). I have used a header that names some of the artists featured inside the magazine which would attract the audience and would make them want to buy it. I selected these artists as: they are famous, very popular, they were mentioned by participants of my audience research questionnaire, and they include both male and females which will appeal to my target audience. I have used a short and simple masthead that has a large, bold distinctive font type and red font colour which contrasts with the white/grey background. It stands out and attract the audience. I have used a main image (my friend who is a model) that will attract the audience as it adds to the realism of the magazine and fits into the target audience (male/female aged 15-30 with black ethnicity).I have used interesting cover lines to attract the audience as they associate with current news that is related to Hip Hop/R&B music and popular musicians, and I have integrated them with the colour scheme so that they stand out even more.I have priced the magazine at £2.99 to attract and address the audience as it is reasonable and is also within the price range that the majority of participants voted on my audience research questionnaire.I have also included a barcode for smart mobiles to scan to get exclusive album covers, which attracts the audience as they will feel that they are getting extra things.

To attract/address the audience for my music magazine contents page I included many features such as:

I have used another main image of my friend to attract the audience as it varies from the cover and shows a different shot type. The colour scheme is same as front cover which keeps the magazine consistent and professional, and the red cap and jacket contrast with the background which makes the main image stand out more.I have used a large masthead (letter ‘B’) in the background to make the page more interesting and attract the audience. It also endorses the name of the magazine (Beat).I have used a title (Contents) to attract the audience as it is large, bold and has an interesting layout that is rarely seen (split up into three lines and is left aligned). I have indicated that there is supposedly three contents pages (1/3 text) and this is the first one, and I have listed some of the main articles with a brief description and page number. This will attract the audience as most of them relate to the cover lines on the front cover, which are about current news related to Hip Hop/R&B music and popular musicians. I have also used a serif font style for the sub headings which are larger than the text below them and they are in a different style of font which will stand out and attract the audience.

To attract/address the audience for my music magazine double page spread I included many features such as:

I have used another two images of my friend (one very large and one smaller) to attract the audience as they look professional, they vary from the cover/contents page and they show different shot types/locations. The colour scheme is same as the front cover/contents page which keeps the magazine consistent and professional, and the use of red contrasts with the background and makes it stand out more.I have used a large, bold quote next to the large image to attract the audience as it shows one of the main things that the artist said in the article, and it is in a contrasting colour to the background which makes it stand out. Also I have used large, bold red speech marks which stand out and draws the audiences attention.I have used an interesting main heading to attract the audience as it is large, bold, overlapping initials of the artists name, which match the colour scheme.I have used red font colour for the sub heading that is relating to the article title and a question, which makes it stand out and attracts the reader to read more. This applies to the drop capital and the first few words of the article as well.I have also addressed my audience by using informal language which is more appropriate as the audience are most likely to speak a lot of slang anyway.

Audience FeedbackTo the left is a graph I have created to represent the results I have collected from a target audience feedback questionnaire (on my final product). It shows that 6 out of 10 reviewers rated my music magazine as ‘Excellent’ and 4 out of the 10 reviewers rated it as ‘Very Good’. The questionnaire also asked the reviewers to list the strengths and weaknesses of my magazine. The comments I received for the strengths include: ‘very professional appearance’, ‘good photos’, ‘good images & text’, ‘how it is set out is good’, etc. I did not receive any comments for weaknesses. Below are photographs of three of the reviewers.
