Phlebology is not a specialty, but faces severalproblems :• It has a specialized field of competency which is of much interest for
others
• More venous patients because population is aging
• New technologies challenge classical ones
• New technologies are widely used before recommendations
• Training is in the hands of the industry
• Need for quality control of training and knowledge
The ETRs are designed to improve and certify competency in phlebology and phlebology procedures for interested specialties.
• 2014 Brussels: Creation of the Multidisciplinary Joint Committee(MJC) Phlebology with Founding Societies : Vascular Surgery, Surgery, Dermatology, Radiology.
• April 2015 Brussels : kick-off meeting MJC Phlebology,
• October 2016 Warsaw : creation of the European Board of Phlebology
• April 2017 Paris: working groups of the European Board of Phlebology
• Designation of EACCME ® delegates

Validation process of ETR
• A 30 pages document based on official UEMS and international recommendations and templates has been designed by EBPh task force
• Submitted to all EBPh and MJC members and to Sections
• Submitted to sections through UEMS offices
• Submitted to UEMS Reviewing Committee, remarks and commentsaddressed, sent again to EBPh and MJC members and UEMS offices for diffusion
• Presented october 20th 2017 to Advisory board: accepted
• Presented October 21st 2017 to General Council today : accepted

Aims of the European Board and ETRs
• Determine a core content and publish sound requirements
• Certify Competency degree in Phlebology (CDP) and CompetencyDegrees in Phlebology Procedures (CDPP)
• Respect prerogatives and purposes of interested Specialties: • Vascular Surgery, • Surgery, • Radiology, • Dermatology, • Vascular Medicine, • Internal Medicine,• Etc.
Practically
• Centers implement their Phlebology training according to ETRs
• EBPh verifies that centers comply with ETRs, and certifies accordingly
• EBPh organizes an exam
• Trainees apply to CDP or SDPP, submit a file, pass the exam
• Trainees receive a Certification Degree (CDP, CDPP) recognized by the EU.
