2.2 OS Specific Settings
Some settings are not required for some server OSes and/or connection configurations.Check the various cases described below, and perform any required settings.
2.2.1 Setting the Port Reset Groups
If the system configuration matches any of the "System configuration that requires the port resetgroup setting" in the following table, every ETERNUS Disk storage system FC port that connectsto the given server's access paths must be assigned to the same port reset group. For system configurations other than the following, use the default settings.
*1: When multiple ESX servers share ETERNUS Disk storage system LUNs, any ETERNUS Disk storagesystem FC port that connects a shared LUN to an ESX server must be assigned to the same portreset group, whether multi-paths are used for the ESX servers or not.
• If the one-to-one relationship between the WWNs and Fibre Channelcards or Converged Network Adapter cards cannot be determined, theHost Affinity Group settings may not be allocated correctly. In this case, try various settings until the server is able to recognize theETERNUS Disk storage system logical disks.
• When the server OS is HP-UX, AIX, Windows®, Linux, VMware ESX, orPAN Manager, assign SCSI LUN numbers starting from LUN0 inascending order. The server cannot recognize the ETERNUS Diskstorage system LUNs unless they are assigned in this order. This restriction does not apply when the server is running a Solaris OS.

Example: When multiple ESX servers share ETERNUS Disk storage system LUNs, CM#0 Port#1and CM#1 Port#1 must be assigned to the same port reset group, even for single-pathconfigurations.
2.2.2 Setting the Sub System Parameters (for HP-UX only)
For HP-UX connection, select the [Disable load balance] checkbox of the "Set Sub SystemParameters" screen. This prevents sense responses that require access retries from beingissued when the ETERNUS Disk storage system is in an overload state.
2.3 Checking the WWNs
Use ETERNUSmgr to check the WWN of each ETERNUS Disk storage system FC port. Theyare required to connect the ETERNUS Disk storage system to the server.

For HP-UX server, improper logs may be recorded unless sense responseis restricted. Therefore, select the [Disable load balance] checkbox. (Senseresponse should be restricted.) Note that changing the [Disable loadbalance] setting does not affect on non-HP-UX servers.

3.1.4 Registering the WWNs of the Accessing Fibre Channel Cards or Converged Network Adapter Cards (Registering the WWNs)
Register the WWN of each Fibre Channel card or Converged Network Adapter card installed inthe server that will access the ETERNUS Disk storage system. At the same time, set the hostresponse numbers registered in "3.1.3 Setting the Host Responses" (page 28) to accept theseWWNs.
WWN registration combines with the Host Affinity settings (described later) to limit which serversare allowed to access which ETERNUS Disk storage system LUNs.

3.1.5 Defining the Relationship between the Accessing Fibre Channel Cards or Converged Network Adapter Cards and the LUN Groups (Allocating the Host-Affinity Groups)
Allocate Host-Affinity Groups for each server connected to the ETERNUS Disk storage system.Allocate the WWN of each server to an Affinity Group and specify the accessible LUNs. This setsthe access restrictions from each server to the ETERNUS Disk storage system.
• To recognize a LUN which has the same configuration for multiple FibreChannel cards or Converged Network Adapter cards, such as inmultipath and cluster configurations, add settings to assign these FibreChannel cards or Converged Network Adapter cards to the same Host-Affinity Group.
• If the one-to-one relationship between the WWNs and Fibre Channelcards or Converged Network Adapter cards cannot be determined, theHost-Affinity Group settings may not be allocated correctly. In this case, try various settings until the server is able to recognize theETERNUS Disk storage system logical disks.

3.2 OS Specific Settings
Some settings are not required for some server OSes and/or connection configurations.Check the various cases described below, and perform any required settings.
3.2.1 Setting the CA Reset Groups
If the system configuration matches any of the "System configuration that requires the resetgroup setting" in the following table, every ETERNUS Disk storage system CA port that connectsto the given server's access paths must be assigned to the same reset group. For system configurations other than the following, use the default settings.
*1: When multiple ESX servers share ETERNUS Disk storage system LUNs, any ETERNUS Disk storagesystem CA port that connects a shared LUN to an ESX server must be assigned to the same resetgroup, whether multi-paths are used for the ESX servers or not.

Example: When multiple ESX servers share ETERNUS Disk storage system LUNs, CM#0 CA#0Port#1 and CM#1 CA#0 Port#1 must be assigned to the same reset group, even forsingle-path configurations.
3.2.2 Setting the Sub System Parameters (for HP-UX only)
For HP-UX connection, select the [Disable Load Balance] checkbox in the "Mode 1" section ofthe "Set Sub System Parameters" screen. This prevents sense responses that require accessretries from being issued when the ETERNUS Disk storage system is in an overload state.
3.3 Checking the WWNs
Use ETERNUSmgr to check the WWN of each ETERNUS Disk storage system CA port. Theyare required to connect the ETERNUS Disk storage system to the server.
Server#1 Server#2
Fibre Channel Switch#1 Fibre Channel Switch#2
HBA#1 HBA#1

CM#0CA#0Port#1
CM#1CA#0Port#1
For HP-UX server, improper logs may be recorded unless sense responseis restricted. Therefore, select the [Disable Load Balance] checkbox.(Sense response should be restricted.) Note that changing the [DisableLoad Balance] setting does not affect on non-HP-UX servers.
