Our mission is based on the fundamental belief in Gods love,
UMCS values the dignity, potential and worth of each individual,
and creates a nurturing environment and sense of community in which
miracles happen.

A structured program designed to assist low- income, single
mothers with children younger than age twelve to achieve
individualized goals and a greater degree of economic self-
sufficiency. The program has sixteen two-three bedroom apartment
available for families.

The program provides emergency food and clothing to individuals
and families through collaboration with the Hunger Task Force of
Milwaukee. Program staff also provide information and referral
services to assist families with a wide variety of needs.

A State of Wisconsin licensed group childcare center for
children ages 6 weeks through 12 years, with a before and after
school program. The Center, housed on the first floor of the
transitional living program apartments, serves residents of the
transitional living program as well as the community at large.

United Methodist Hospitals Ministry

When United Methodists come to the Madison area hospitals, they
receive a pastoral visit from the United Methodists Hospitals
Ministry. This ministry was developed by Madison United Methodists
pastors in the 1960s and has evolved into a ministry of visitation,
compassion, prayer and support.

In one year, we have been able to provide approximately: 12,000
older adults with commodities; 300 people with shelter; 48,000
people with emergency food services; 600 youth/children
participating in childcare/youth services;

2,500 seniors with loving care independent living;
rehabilitation; skilled nursing, assisted living, transportation,
home visits. 2,000 people with medical attention; 6,000 hospital
visits 500 persons with holistic, community based, nursing.
