Welcome to the 2011 ESSEC International Banking Seminar, a well-known event amongleading international banks and institutions.

The Finance Track is designed for students wishing to pursue job opportunities in investment banking, mergers andacquisitions, financial analysis and research, corporate financial and treasury management, strategic auditing andconsulting. It allows students to consolidate their knowledge of the field and prepare for a career in finance.

The ESSEC MSc Finance track currently offers more than 20 specialized Finance courses, in 3 (non exclusive)options.

ResearchOne of the main objectives of the ESSEC FinanceDepartment is the creation of knowledge throughhigh-quality original academic research. This emphasison research is visible in all the spheres of academiclife:• Publication of high-impact articles in the best

academic journals;• Teaching at the doctoral level and dissertation

supervision;• Academic seminars and conferences where top

international researchers present and discuss theirlatest work.

The department’s research work is fundamental andunderpins the excellence of its teaching. Researchcontributes to the provision and development of asound education for our students, building on themost advanced bodies of theoretical and empiricalknowledge and the most modern methodologicaltools.

The department’s research activity focuses on 11 keyareas of finance: financial derivatives, riskmanagement, commodities, portfolio theory,macrofinance, market microstructure, mergers andacquisitions, private equity, corporate governance,bankruptcy, liquidation and reorganization and realestate.

The department offers 23 courses in Finance to morethan 2,000 students each year. In particular:

• The Finance Track is open to students who wish tospecialize themselves in the Finance area and havesuccessfully completed a selection of courses. TheFinance Track is a mark of distinction reflecting thequality of Finance education offered at ESSEC.

ESSEC Executive Education.

The ESSEC Finance Department, along with aselected network of industry professionals, offers aWealth Management program.

1. This program, offered in French, is meant forfinancial advisors working in the asset managementand wealth management area. The program iscomposed of ten short seminars given on theESSEC campus in La Defense (Paris businessdistrict). This feature enables participants to followthe program while continuing their full-time jobactivities. The program can also entitle graduatingstudents to the ESSEC Wealth managementcertificate.

2. Examples of seminars offered: wealth managementoverview, legal and fiscal environment; real estateinvestment, bargaining and selling, and modernportfolio management techniques.

Advanced Masters in Financial Techniques& Finance and Asset Management.

1. These Advanced Masters program (partially taughtin English) have been operating for more than15 years. Over 14 months of coursework including aninternship, about 50 students prepare their career inthe financial industry (market finance and corporatefinance). Graduating alumni take jobs not only inParis financial community but also in the majorfinancial capitals of the world.

2. Since 2009, ESSEC has also launched a newFinancial Engineering Asian Track (entirely taught inEnglish) to train international students in thedomains of risk management and financialengineering. This program is partially based inESSEC’s Singapore campus, where students canbenefit from the exciting developments in theFinance area taking place in Asia.

The Finance Track of the ESSEC MSc inManagement program and the Advanced Masters inFinancial Techniques are partners of the CharteredFinancial Analyst (CFA) Institute. For moreinformation on the CFA Institute and the CFAcharter, programs, and training, please visit:www.cfainstitute.org.

ESSEC Business School chose Singapore as thelocation for its first research and teaching centerabroad. This aims at developing an original Euro-Asianapproach.
