What is a Portrait?
A portrait is a picture of a one person
or a small group of people.
People can make portraits in lots of ways,
using different materials, techniques,
equipment, and colours.

What is a Self-Portrait?
A self-portrait is when an artist makes a picture of himself or herself.

Pablo Picasso Picasso was a Spanish artist and is one of the most famous artists in the world. Picasso painted realistic and abstract portraits. He began something called cubism. Cubist paintings are made up of lots of shapes.

Andy Warhol was a
Pop Artist.
He used a technique called screen printing to create
lots of prints that look the same.
He often changed the
colours of the pictures.

Repeating Images

Line Drawings
A line drawing uses straight or
curved lines to make a picture.
A line drawing is usually monochrome.
It does not use shading.
