Ask them to Never give out their personal details (eg name, address and school) or share personal information (including photos and videos) with strangers on the internet or via their mobile
Set their online profiles to private
Set rules for the use of webcam, digital cameras and camera phones
Encourage them to talk to you about anything that makes them feel uncomfortable online or on their mobile, such as a stranger making contact, and to save emails, texts and other evidence
If you think your student could be in immediate danger, report it to the local police too
How to open up with the students
Use their language and terminologies in the classroom
Make the above mentioned issues a part of your talk
Quote examples and show empathy towards victim and dislike towards the victimizer
Encourage to share any example if they know, earmark some time for this discussion.
Share that cyber bullying & online grooming is very common so that students do not feel singled out.
Focus more on shy and introvert students.
